GENERAL APPEARANCE: Mercy’s eyes are blue/grey and large like a doe. Her hair is messy, a dull blonde in colour and never pulled out of her face. Her skin is thin and she supports dark bags under her eyes, despite this, Mercy is very healthy. Her body is athletic and she stands at 5’4.
Mercy has an ugly fashion sense, she wears daggy clothes. Her school skirt is frayed, her tie is never tied and her robes are faded. Mercy’s casual wear includes: baggy shirts, faded, loose jeans (rolled up), sneakers and sweaters with homemade thumb holes.

EARLY YEARS:
Mercy was born as the first daughter and second child to Naomi and Christopher Bennett. When Naomi (who was a muggle) died in childbirth, the whole world seemed to crumble for Christopher, starting in his beloved’s death and ending with his biggest disappointment, Kit.
Christopher was a proud wizard, his family meant the world to him and he had only the highest of expectations for his magical offspring, so once Kit turned 11 and he didn’t get his letter Christopher was devastated.  Mercy was young but she could remember the look’s on her father’s face change after weeks of waiting for a Hogwarts letter, the anger, the remorse, the hate, the… disgust? After this Kit became a terrible brother, he was angry, a squib, the lowest of the low, or what father liked to call them, the scum of the wizarding world.

Kit became even worse when little Mercy received her letter to Hogwarts, but Christopher was ecstatic, every day between receiving the letter and getting onto the train father would tell stories about all the greats that went there, every witch and wizard he looked up to, he made a point that they were all in Gryffindor and that Mercy would make a good Gryffindor and how much he wanted to see her in the red and gold robes.
Mercy couldn’t help but disagree, as much as she wanted and hoped and prayed to be a Gryffindor she didn’t have the properties of one. Mercy wasn’t loyal and brave, she wasn’t honest.

Mercy was a daggy, rude, little girl and perhaps her brother was to blame. She didn’t make friends easily, but she could make enemies in a blink of an eye. Because Mercy’s memory was so sharp she could remember almost everything, she could remember the deepest, the darkest and the dirtiest secrets and she didn’t even have to be told personally, she could listen in on conversations without being noticed. This is how blackmail became one of her strongest tools.

HOGWARTS YEARS: Mercy’s first four years of Hogwarts weren’t filled with studying hard or paying attention, truth be told she wasn’t a smart witch. If anyone spoke behind her back it defiantly wouldn’t be in favour of her wits. One would think Mercy could learn easily, with her sharp memory and all, but no, Mercy could sit in class for an hour and everything being said would go in one ear out the other and leave a whistling behind.

Instead, Mercy used her powers for… meaner reasons. She remembered the secrets she heard, the names they belonged to and of course the faces the names belonged to. Blackmail was Mercy’s favourite tool, you see, Mercy was a very good liar, she could make anything sound believable with effort. She would lie about school, homework, studying and what she was doing out of bed at 3 in the morning (amongst other more major things). But nothing comes good from a lie, and after a while the blame needed to go somewhere… or to someone. So Mercy would smile and reach into her bag of names and faces and secrets and blackmail someone into doing exactly what she wanted with the promise to stay quiet forever.

Mercy wasn’t all that bad, she enjoyed some classes and she loved Care for Magical Creatures, that class was defiantly interesting to her. She also half-assed Charms in hopes to learn a few nifty spells. She was very good at pretending to be friendly and kind which helped her a ton with her grades (well that and the blackmail), she could be a good, kind-hearted person if she really put a face on.

The funny thing was Mercy’s father, Christopher, never believed a bad thing anyone said about his daughter, he believed Mercy was pure and perfect, everything to be proud about. Mercy intended on keeping it that way.

okay, question. you put gryffindor as your first preference for her, but i don't see her as a gryffindor at all. i honestly don't see any choice for her but slytherin. thoughts?

Well, it was only because Mercy always wanted to be in Gryffindor (I think I explained that in her story). Gryffindor was my characters preference where-as Slytherin would be the obvious choice.

If you're looking for a middle road, I can actually see her as a Ravenclaw possibility. It fits her intelligence without the stigma associated with Slytherin.

Sounds good, I wanted her to be in a house a little unexpected and Slytherin just seemed too... obvious. But Ravenclaw sounds pretty good to me!
