Selwyn's Peeps

Selwyn's the character I've had longest, I started playing him when he was a fourth year. If you want to know what he's been up to, check out my thread tracker (I'll put a link in the first post ^ ).  

At Hogwarts he was pretty disruptive and well known for his impetuous nature, although he didn't have the popularity people like Jack Dyllan and her friends seemed to inspire.

As an adult, he's calmed down a bit, though his sense of humour is still grating to some.  He suffers anxiety and trauma from being exposed to Death Eaters as a child.  And he has a lot of internal conflict from being part veela.

Selwyn's fun to play with because he often acts without thinking, or does things that are to his own disadvantage.  He also has no shame so crazy antics may ensue.

Monroe is the oldest of the Ashcroft Siblings.  There are five of them, they're technically quintuplets, and their parents are magi-scientists trying to disprove the pureblood supremecy myth.  

Monroe is the model child. High achieving, he has a photographic (or close to it) memory and has been quickly promoted within the Ministry of Magic.  He learnt occlumency in his seventh year because of his ambitions to become Minister for Magic. He is also an advocate for werewolf rights.

Monroe is fun to play with because he's a manipulative user.  He only thinks of people in terms of how useful they are to him.  He assumes most everyone is an idiot and rarely shows emotion.  When he does, it either confuses or disgusts him.

Shylock is the scapegoat of the Ashcroft family, particularly when it comes to anything Destrey does.  Ironically, at Hogwarts this earned him a reputation as someone not to be messed with, and as a consequence he became the boy a lot of pureblood girls dated in order to irritate their parents.

He developed an eating disorder in sixth year and has had associated substance abuse problems ever since.  He is currently seeking treatment at St Mungos.

He presents as genderfluid.

Shylock is fun to play with because he's my easiest character to play which means you get replies pretty much straight away.  If you want to learn anything about the Ashcroft Family (what are their parents up to???) he's the only one who'll give anything away (although he can't tell you straight out; there is a curse).  And although he seems to give no fucks, he is actually my most empathetic character.

Third and youngest of the actual, played Ashcroft Siblings, Destrey is also the nastiest.  She and Shylock are generally assumed to be twins, but thanks to the wonders of muggle medicine they're actually six months apart.

Destrey finds amusement in other people's discomfort, pain, whatever.  She enjoys shocking people.  Very much the Slytherin, she'll do whatever she needs to in order to get ahead, which is why she drank unicorn blood to avoid catching the Green Itch when she was in fifth year.

Destrey is fun to play with because she has no limits and I have no expectations for her, so she's more or less an open book.  She will fight for her family, though.

It's Michael Corner! You may remember him from such references as dating Ginny Weasley, but he grew up and married Terry Boot.  Their daughter Jenna is about to graduate.

These days, Michael works in the Psych Ward at St Mungos, and very occasionally takes specialist referrals, occasionally because most witches and wizards don't trust psychology.  He can also work as a regular healer because I like this character and don't want to get bored.

He is not involved with the Order of the Phoenix, and in fact, privately he's of the opinion that it now causes more harm than good.

Playing with Michael is fun because although he takes a bit of time to warm up to people, he has potential to explode.  And he has a flexible moral code that I really want to see come out.

I finally caved and made Terry because I can't help myself.  

He's an Unspeakable, and a little bit of a genius.  He can be very intense, but usually comes off as quiet and amiable.  

Originally, he wasn't going to be part of the Order, but since he works with so many of the characters who are, I decided to go ahead and do it. Also, it's more fun that way.

Terry's fun to play with because he's a sweetie who needs a hug (but only if you warn him first)

Yep, it's Percy.  You know him from the books.  Getting married has mellowed him somewhat, although he's still a high-strung mess, he's not so much of a know-it-all (not as much).

He's a member of the Order, mainly in the background doing research and giving people advice.  His own life is a little more chaotic, as he struggles to cope with two teenage daughters.

Percy is fun to play with because he's new!  I just made him!  Anything might happen

Angelique is a perfectionist, control freak and the most selfish coward.  Her number one goal is looking out for number one.  Though she's been "in" several battles, she's never actually fought anyone.  Her best talent is watching the action unfold and then showing up just as things are finishing up.

Angelique has occasionally hooked up with the Dark Followers and the Death Eaters but usually leaves just as quickly.  She's just loyal enough to be considered trustworthy, but not loyal enough to get membership.  

As a Hogwarts healer, Angelique usually makes students' lives as painful as possible.  And the more a student annoys her the more likely she'll prescribe them something disgusting.

Angelique is fun to play with if you have a student you need to make suffer, or if you have a noteworthy adult who needs someone to fawn over / be terrified of them.

Tifanie first appeared on PA during the Triwizard Tournament as a Beauxbatons student.  Her sister is Caelani Bittel, who was once leader of the Death Eaters and who is now missing, so Tifanie has moved to the UK to look for her.

In the meantime, she's working as an Auror and stealing files from the Ministry.

Tifanie is fun to play with because there's so much potential here.  Your character could catch her doing the wrong thing in the Ministry.  If your character is a criminal, she could lead the investigation against them.  Maybe your character knows where her sister was last sighted.  And more...

This is Selwyn's baby brother.  He'll be starting at Hogwarts next year.

Christian's fun to play with because he's a spontaneous little firstie and better developed than most of my other characters without losing that childish spark.

Liesl is your stereotypical mean girl.  She's always on point, using her words to tear people down.  Deep down she fears abandonment and going back to the rough life her family led before she started Hogwarts.  She's leader of the Dark Followers, less for the ruling the world aspect than for the dark magic aspect.  Liesl embodies the "any means to achieve their ends" part of the Slytherin stereotype.

She'll be transported to Ilvermorny on the Hogwarts Express, so if you want to get involved with her, that's one way to go about it.

Liesl is fun to RP with because as soon as she loses control of a situation, she overreacts in the worst possible way and things just spiral from there.  Even in the most serious situation, Liesl is likely to cause chaos completely by accident and she won't even realise.

Jenna is Michael Corner and Terry Boot-Corner's daughter.  Her resting bitch-face apparently intimidates half the school.  Or, that could be her habit of interfering where she's not wanted, "for your own good".  

Jenna is known for campaigning against Potter's Army and being incredibly serious about everything (she does have a sense of humour, it's just very dry).  She is not yet known for her ambition to start another school for magical children in the UK, as Hogwarts has become increasingly unsafe.

Jenna is fun to play with because she's so dry and sarcastic, who doesn't love that?  And because she's one of those characters who wants to interfere with everyone else's lives, it's easy to think up a reason to thread together.

We've been a bit creative and made Lucy the older of Percy's daughters, so she should be in sixth year but has repeated due to illness.  Back in her second year, she was bitten by an acromantula and now she has chronic blood poisoning which requires her to go have her blood drained & replenished at St Mungos each month.

As you can imagine, something like that would make anyone a bit cranky, so Lucy is a sassy character, in her thoughts if not always out loud.  She doesn't like people feeling sorry for her and she goes out of her way to hide just how much her illness affects her.

Lucy is also incredibly smart. Her hobby is hacking muggle technology to make it work with magic, or vice-versa.  

Lucy is fun to play with because she doesn't take shit from anyone. If you have a nasty or self absorbed character and you're looking for someone who'll call them out, Lucy's your gal.  

Calixta is your typical pureblood Slytherin.  She unconsciously discriminates against those who aren't pureblood, more out of habit than out of any genuine dislike (or even knowledge).  If she made friends with someone and then found out they were muggleborn, she would be the one to say "but you don't really count" and think that was a compliment.

Calixta is fun and outgoing, she likes educating people on how to act like a proper witch or wizard.  Unlike some pureblood or Slytherin students, she actually looks forward to the day her parents set her up in an arranged marriage.

Calixta is fun to RP with because she's so oblivious and non PC but well meaning and polite at the same time.  Turn the awkward up to eleven.  

Here's a secret, Cly is based on my first ever RP character.  She's quite the bitch, especially to other Slytherins who she holds to a higher standard than the rest of the school.  

She also hates being called Cly, which is pretty much why you should do it.

Clytemnestra is great to RP with because she's a realistic Slytherin.  She freely admits to not being pureblooded and thinks people who believe in that stuff are idiots.  That makes her a way nicer character for RPing with people from other houses.  She's also my easiest student to RP with, so you get fast replies!

I know you're still working on it but I'm obnoxious. I'll edit as you edit.

1. You mentioned awhile back something about Monroe looking for a 'model' werewolf. Do you think he would try to 'reform' Lily into that? I think it would probably fail, and he might have to abandon ship pretty quickly, but I'd love to see someone try to manipulate her and see how much fight she actually puts up.

2. Destrey should certainly bother one of my students.

3. What would Destrey do to poor Teddy? They will be coworkers soon, after all.

4. Perhaps a Percy/Molly/Lucy family thread at some point? To figure out the dynamic?

Yeaaaah. Monroe might be manipulative but not in that way. If he wanted Lily to become reformed, or be the poster child for werewolf rights, he'd definitely help her with that (and in fact, he'd help her even if she didn't want to help him in return) but he'd be straight up about why he was doing it.

Although, once she agreed, he might manipulate her after that. He'd probably think that was fair since she knew what was in store, kind of thing.

Destrey tends to do whatever seems like a good idea at the time. Wing it.

We should definitely have a family thread.

MonroexLily - gooootcha. I think she'd have to be manipulated into the role. Ah well.

We'll see where things go with Destrey. I'm sure my characters will find themselves in vulnerable positions.

WeasleyFam : Awesome. We'll just have to figure out the timing with the Ilvermorny plot and all that.

Did you want me to start that Gil/Angelique thread? I wasn't sure. But I have tonight and tomorrow morning off so I could if you want. If you're too busy right now, though, I don't mind waiting.

@Adrienne Reynolds I don't care who starts. I have a job interview this afternoon which I'm really hopeful about and if I'm successful I won't be on nearly as often. So it's up to you.

Selwyn doesn't really work in the field, he's actually the son of landed gentry and he doesn't even need this position. I don't know if that might lead to conflict.

The biggest difference between Destrey and Angelique is that Destrey isn't cautious, so it's pretty likely that Maddie could catch her or at least hear about something ethically dubious she's done. Angelique is a lot better at covering her tracks. Angelique also doesn't target people, she just picks on people who cross her path.

Jenna is seventh year now, so she'll be a graduate shortly. We'll have to see what happens.

Christian & Charlie are probably a good idea. Christian will probably expect to get away with everything at Hogwarts both because Selwyn is on the staff, and because Selwyn was a troublemaker himself.
