The wedding of a lifetime

Vaughn never thought today was going to come, he was completely nervous. He had been dating Athena for four years and they were still going strong. They moved in together once Athena had finished school, he had gotten the courage to ask for her father's blessing five months ago. Her father had sized him up and questioned him incessantly about everything then finally gave his blessing to Vaughn. The same day he had asked Athena to marry him and he made sure it was in front of a lot of people. They set the date for the wedding for today and he was nervous beyond belief. He was in the dressing room of the church struggling to put on his necktie on because his hands were shaking so bad.

He stopped and began pacing the floor of the room when his father came in with a smile. Vaughn looked at his father with a look of helplessness on his face.

"It's ok Vaughn. It's normal to be nervous on the day of your wedding. It happens to everyone even if they don't care to admit it." His father said as he walked over and began doing up Vaughn's tie.

"I just wanna be a good husband to her dad. Is there like a manual or something for this kind of thing?" Vaughn said jokingly as he ran a hand through his hair nervously.

His father laughed at Vaughn's attempt at humor. "Well no there isn't. All you need to do to be a good husband to her is be who you are now to her. The only thing that will be different between you is that you'll be married to one another. Everything else will fall into place." His father finished the tie then helped Vaughn into his jacket. He smoothed out any winkles before smiling at his son in pride, "I'm proud of you son. You'll make a fine husband to her."

"Thanks dad." Vaughn said turning to hug his father and then straightening his father's tie slightly. They wore Gryffindor red on their ties as well as their vests beneath the jacket. "Come on the ceremony will be starting soon we'll need to take our places."

They walked out of the dressing room and into the church, Vaughn took his place next to the priest. His grooms men were his friends from school and his best man was his little brother who was now ten years old and gaining height quickly.

He didn't have to wait long before the music started for the bridesmaids to walk down the aisle along with the flower girl and ring bearer. Vaughn began shifting from foot to foot in anticipation of Athena walking down the aisle.

Today was the big day, and Athena was beyond nervous about the whole thing to be honest.  It didn't help that her pregnancy hormones were kicking in making emotional and somewhat snappy.  She couldn't help it though she just wanted this day to be perfect.  Now sitting in front of of mirror Athena was surrounded by people from hair stylist to a person doing her nails.  As the stylist tugged her tangled hair,  Athena let out an yelp before giving out a annoyed hiss.   "Is this all really necessary mum? Vaughn always liked when I looked like myself. "said Athena grumbling as the hair stylist combed her hair. "Ow! Easy there,  I love my hair thank you very much!"said Athena wincing in pain.

After a hour of yelping,  Athena's hair was braided in a elegant braid with her hair in elegant curls and put back in a elegant twist on the side.  Looking out the window of the cottage her parents rented for the wedding Athena sighed looking at her three friends that were getting ready.   "Please tell me I still look like myself,  I don't want to look like a fake barbie doll!"said Athena softly as they started doing her make up.   "Don't worry pumpkin,  mummy would never make you look bad, you have that natural beauty that shines through. "her mother said as Athena smiled.  "Ok.. I trust you mum. "said Athena softly. 

After hours of getting ready,  Athena was all done at last and she was finally able to look in the full length mirror.  "Athena you look so beautiful."said her mother dabbling her eyes with her red silky velvet handkerchief with a cursive 'C' in yellow on it. Her mother was wearing a red dress with a yellow ribbon tied around her waist with a yellow roses on it.  It matched the colors of the bride maids dresses,  which was red silk velvet material without a silk yellow ribbon that went around the waist.  Both and hers and  Vaughn favorite colors.  Looking at the full length mirror,  Athena seen that her mother was indeed right.  "Vaughn won't know what will hit him when he sees you walk down the aisle. "said her mother smirking. 

Stepping into her dress,  Athena's mother busted into tears which made Athena hug her as she did.  "Mum this dress is beautiful mum, I can't believe you got this made for me!"said Athena softly.  "Anything for my pumpkin, plus you being pregnant just makes you look more beautiful. "said her mother smiling at her. Walking towards the window Athena looked down and smiled.  The place where Vaughn and her had their first anniversary was beautifully decorated with yellow and red roses with a red velvet rug that led towards the altar.  It was beautiful,  and her and Vaughn's parents went all out for the wedding. 

" Oh god, I'm so freaking nervous. "said Athena softly pacing across the floor fiddling with her hands.   "I honestly don't know why I am,  I been waiting for this for a long time. "said Athena softly.   "I can't believe this day is finally happening!"said Athena happily.  Looking at Dariela, her sister and Mila she smiled.  "You three look beautiful. "said Athena hugging them. "Our lives are really changing, but for now better. "Athena thought to herself smiling to herself.  

"How did I get lucky?"Athena asked them softly knowing she'll probably get confused looks from her best friends. "I honestly dreamed of this day, but I honestly didn't think it would ever happen let alone with Vaughn. "said Athena. "Of course I liked him before he ever liked me, but sometimes I can't help not to wonder what I ever did for him to fall in with me?"Athema asked softly. "I know it's silly for me to wonder this on my wedding day, but I can't help it."said Athena softly. "I'm just glad I have him, I love him more then anything, life without him would be useless. "said Athena. "Oh god I'm rambling aren't I?" Athena asked as her mother nodded. 

"Athena Serena Abercrombie you listen to me, Vaughn is probably asking himself the same thing, but he fell for you because you have that beautiful quality to you inside and out that he loves and he loves that your sweet and caring that puts everyone needs before her own."said her mother softly. "Yeah but that's only small things. "said Athena softly as her mother shook her head. "Sometimes the small things you do, means the world to him. "said her mother smiling. "How you know all this mum? " Athena asked her softly. "Because your father in law tells me that every day and that he loves me. "said Athena's mother smiling before kissing her daughter forehead. Athena smiled before wiping some tears away as her mother told her that. "I'm ready to start the rest of my life as Athena Hunter. "said Athena softly as she smooth out her dress as her father knocked on the door.

Vaughn had to stop himself several times from pacing the floor of the church. His brother was snickering behind him but every time he looked at him Michael's face would be blank. He felt like it was taking forever for the ceremony to start and he was starting to get anxious. He was a bundle of nerves when his father came up to calm him down and tell him that everything was going to be fine. He couldn't help but wonder what Athena looked like in her dress and he really didn't want to wait any longer for her to arrive.

All the guests were seated now and some were giving him knowing smiles. He kept trying his best to calm his nerves but without seeing Athena for a full two days was getting to him. He saw his mother slip out the church and start half walking and half running to the cottage that was near by.

Vaughn's mother, Mercy, knocked on the door to the cabin before opening the door. "Athena sweetie...Oh my you look so beautiful sweetheart. Are we ready to get this wedding started? Everyone is seated and awaiting for you girls." She said then ducked out and walked back towards the church. She entered and gave a small smile to Vaughn before taking her seat in the front pew. Vaughn's dad, Vincent, chuckled softly.

"It's ok Vaughn. You'll find out later that you'll always be waiting on your wife. It's okay to wait on them though, they are the precious thing a man can have." He said then walked over to where his wife was sitting and sat down beside her.

"You know she's probably just as nervous as you are brother." Michael said with a small grin on his face as he stood there next to Vaughn.

"You know that's not as comforting as you think it is dude." Vaughn said with a smile bumping arms with his brother.

"If you want comforting ask mom or your wife for that. I'm just here to look good." He said with a huge grin on his face.

Vaughn shook his head and laughed softly as he took a deep breath closing his eyes. He opened them a minute later and made sure that he kept his nerves down.

Athena looked at Vaughn's mother and nodded. "Thankyou, yes ma'am I'm ready, a bit nervous but ready."said Athena giving her a soft warm smile.   "Don't worry Mrs. Hunter I love Vaughn very much, I'll take care of him I promise."said Athena.   "As my mother taught me, if you expect to be treated like a queen, you got to treat your man like a king."said Athena.   Athena was told by Vaughn parents that she was by far the best thing that happened to Vaughn in a long time, Athena smiled at the memory.

As the girls walked down the asile and took their places the  the bridal march played Athena looked at her father and smiled at him giving him a reassuring squeeze on the arm.  As the doors opened Athena smiled happily at Vaughn from the alter before squeezing her father's arm.  Feeling her father's grip tighten on her Athena chuckled to herself.  As her guided down the aisle towards the alter Athena smiled warmly at everyone.   Athena was glowing with happiness,  she honestly didn't know if she looked but she must,  everyone was in awe by her.

Passing the smiling faces of her friends and loved ones,  Athena finally reached the alter.  As the music stopped playing her father helped her up the alter to stand in front of Vaughn.  His grip still around Athena's arm Athena chuckled and whispered to him.  " Daddy it's time to let go, don't worry I'll be fine. 'said Athena softly.   As he let go of her and gave her to Vaughn  Athena kissed her father's cheek.   " Take care of my little girl Vaughn, she's your possession now. " said her father softly before sitting down beside her mother. 

" Sorry about that Vanny love,  you know how he is over me. "Athena muttered softly to him.   Her father was always protected of her,  but she didn't blame him she was his oldest daughter, she could only imagine when her sister gotten married.   Locking hands with him she smiled happily at him.   " Love you."Athena mouthed at him looking lovingly into his eyes.  There was love and happiness in her eyes, it was clear just by looking into her eyes. If it wasn't her eyes, then it was there smile on her face that glowed through the crowd.

Athena couldn't believe this day was here,  she dreamt of this day since she met Vaughn.  It was crazy how far came since four years ago.   They went alot since then,  but it made them stronger as a couple.   There were so many people that doubted them,  after Vaughn graduated it gotten worse.   They always told her Vaughn would leave or cheat on her with someone more prettier and older,  but Athena didn't believe it.  Vaughn remained faithful and loved her through the good and the bad.

Here she stood before the love of her life,  ready to start the rest of her life forever with him by her side.   She couldn't believe after this day,  she was going to be Vaughn's wife from this day on.  She no longer was going to be Athena Abercrombie but Athena Hunter.

Vaughn heard the bridal march and watch the bridesmaids take their places on the other side of him. He looked towards the door of the church anxiously awaiting Athena. Seeing her took his breath away, she looked stunning and his eyes were on her the entire time she walked down the aisle. He felt his brother squeeze his shoulder and he smiled at Athena.

"I will take care of your daughter sir, I promise." He said as he took Athena's hand and grinned at his soon to be bride.

"Yes I know sweetheart. I'll be the same over our little girl should we have one." He said smiling more as he brought her hand up and kissed it. 'Love you too sweetheart.' He mouthed back to her as they faced the priest as he began to talk.

"We are gathered here today in the presence of family and friends to unite these two in matrimony." The priest said his voice echoing in the hall. The priest went through the entire ceremony only pausing for them to say their vows and for them to say I do to one another. He said a prayer to bless their marriage and finally came to his closing words. "You may kiss your bride."

Vaughn grinned as he took Athena's face in his hands and kissed her lips softly. Cheers went up around them as he broke away from her. Taking her hand in his, he turned them towards their family and friends.

"May I present Mr. and Mrs. Hunter." The priest said as the cheering got louder.

Vaughn put her hand in the crook of his arm and led Athena down from the alter into the swarm of family as well as friends. Vaughn was hugged and shook hands with many as they made their way down the aisle and towards the entrance of the church. He looked over at Athena with a smile and said, "Are you ready Mrs. Hunter?"

Through out the whole wedding, Athena couldn't help but not to think that she was dreaming, this was all a beautiful dream. She couldn't believe that she was finally married to Vaughn and he was her husband and she was his wife, it was a dream come true, like something that came out of a fairytale book. Although it was really and she was married to the man of her dreams and loved since she was fourteen years old and a shy and innocent girl at Hogwarts, strange how Vaughn gotten her out of that when no one else could. He was her life saver in a lot of things, she couldn't imagine her life without him, and didn't want to either. She smiled at the memories they had together, they're were some bad ones but the good simply overpowered the bad ones.


Athena greeted everyone who came, to her family and friends, to his family and everyone who came. The place was swarming with friends and loved ones who were all here for them, Athena couldn't help but not to smile at how loved they are, she felt really lucky. Although she was lucky to meet and marry someone as sweet and caring as Vaughn was, she felt like the luckiest girl in the world. She honestly was in her opinion, although since she was fourteen, she been thinking that.


Athena looked at Vaughn and smiled happily at him. "Yes I am Mr Hunter, I'm more then ready."said Athena. "I'm ready to face this world as Athena Hunter and your wife, together we can rule the world!"said Athena. "Ok..maybe not rule the world, but take it on together!"said Athena giggling.
