"Thank you for asking, Mr. Pierson. No. I do not want another Order member. I want the sister. I want Swan's sister because I want Swan. I think you're a resourceful enough bunch to know how to extract information to find out which muggle is the one we want, aren't you? There are some time honored traditions worth hanging onto," he said. He didn't care what they did to witches, wizards, muggles, if it got the Death Eaters the information they needed. Lorcan simply considered information extraction to be a basic skill, whether it was veritaserum or something a bit more dramatic. Results were what Lorcan wanted.
And ultimately he wanted two things. First, he wanted the destruction of the Order. Secondly, he wanted Audriana Swan. Period. Swan wasn't exactly going to simply show up at D'Eath Manor and surrender, not without reason. Perhaps a sister would be a bit of bait, willingly or not. Lorcan didn't care about that.
"The sister is merely incentive. Do try not to kill her. Bait is not as effective when it's dead. If you get Swan herself, leave the sister behind. Beyond helping us get the real prey, the muggle sister has little use to us. In another day and time, she'd have been a very useful innocent that the Order would have put their lives on the line for. Now, their battles seem to be waged in terms of P.R. and verbal political rhetoric.
"But, what do I intend you to do with them when they undoubtedly show up? I don't give a jot about them. Kill them all for all I care. I intend to break the Order of the Phoenix to bits. Its about half a century overdue, don't you agree?
"As for Ms. Williams, I did send owls. The wizarding world does not, as a rule, have a problem with our postal service, unlike the muggle world. And, as I sent more than one owl, using more than one bird, I think its safe to presume one of them got the message.
"Even if they had not, if they are as bloody bonded as they'd like us all to think they are, it should have made the Daily Prophet's headlines, if they'd given a damn about her, saying she'd gone missing, and should have been looking under every garden rock trying to find her. Any way you figure it, its inexcusable, except as some sort of screw up.
"As far as Ms. Williams herself is concerned, she has recovered from her wounds and is in excellent health. I've told her everything I know. I've held nothing back from her, and, as it stands, she has free access to all of the estate and is abundantly provided for. She is certainly not chained to the dungeon walls. Nor is she in any sort of distress that I can see. As I told you all when she arrived, she's my guest, and she's being treated as any other dignitary I might host. Even if the Order wanted to negotiate her release today, I'm honestly not sure she'd go, and I can't blame her. What could they offer her now? To go back to what, exactly? To go from how she's treated here to go back to being a doormat with her so-called 'friends' who didn't come for her? She can certainly choose what she wants when the time comes to let her go, but if she chooses to stay, I won't turn her down. She'll be permitted to stay."
