If you hadn’t noticed, we have a new type of character on the forum: Muggles! They'll be colored pink. In order to understand how that happened, check out the most recent Daily Prophet article.
Some things to note that were not expressly stated in the IC article:
- Pixies can no longer be used as a plotting device, since they have been captured. Need an analogy? Magic is floating around rather like a cloud, and once you step into it, a small part of your magic joins that cloud, and the magic you still have acts wonky.
- Yes, your characters can accidentally cast things, but nothing above their abilities. So, first years will definitely not apparate on accident. And the spells should be innocuous (not harmful) at first. If they do get worse, just note that your character will not be casting any Unforgivable Curses. Nothing that dangerous. Note that Muggles cannot protect themselves from these accidental spells, but if witches and wizards don’t see it coming, they might not manage to save themselves from it either. Just don’t go messing with someone’s character without permission and we’ll be fine, yeah?
- This inability to use magic properly is spreading like a virus, but is not actually a virus. Essentially, if you get near someone who has the problem, you’ll have the problem. Currently, it is assumed that the failing of the witches’ and wizards’ magic is the cause of the Muggles’ ability to see what’s happening. This will be expanded upon in part two of the plot Also, Muggles can read the Prophet if a witch or wizard gives it to them, but you should keep up with the articles OOC.
- Only Muggles with a notable relationship to the plot will be accepted (See the thread in Creating Your Character about Muggle applications!).
- Important roles for this plot will be listed in the Dramatis Personae thread, and you should definitely post there so people will know your post and you will be included. There are special roles listed there that you can talk to Admins about, and you will need to be approved for them before you post the application.

Also, if you haven’t noticed the Mass Thread for getting rid of the snow, that’s located in the Leaky and will remain open for anyone who wants to participate. Just note that it happened BEFORE the pixies escaped, so everyone’s magic is working properly in that thread.
We’re also still looking for Professors to hold classes. We Admins don’t want to take the roles unless we have to, so please help us out <3
Speaking of jobs, there won’t be a specific thread for Muggle jobs, because that goes in the Dramatis Personae thread
This is your chance to make a Muggle (or you can talk to an Admin about making a Squib, if you would really like to) so don’t miss out! The max number, right now, that a person can have of Muggle characters is two, but that’s because they are temporary characters, and we want you to get the most out of your plotting. Honestly, just having one would totally be worth it.
