Transfiguration: Pod 4 - Lesson 1 Empty Transfiguration: Pod 4 - Lesson 1

Post by Everly Bardugo Thu Sep 11, 2014 5:05 am

The last class of the day came around, and Adrienne found herself truly looking forward to it. The students would be working to transfigure teapots into tortoises, but their professor had a bit of a surprise for them once they had accomplished that task. According to her mentor and father figure, Keiran, the students would probably enjoy it - especially considering it was their last class of the day and would perhaps bring a smile to their faces as they finished the first lessons of the new year.

The lesson may have been intended for students in fourth year, but Adrienne wasn't too worried. It was a fun assignment, in her opinion, and she hoped that the one assigned to her fourth class would agree. If she could ensure that they had a good time, she would have done her job. Even if they struggled a bit, she could just aim for them improving rather than mastering, and then if she didn't set her expectations overly high, they wouldn't have reasons to feel bad about themselves.

The door was left open as she walked in, levitating the container of teapots in front of her as she went. It was set down on her desk, and from it she drew out several teapots and put them on each desk. Hopefully there wouldn't be any accidents or broken items before the lesson started, but she had brought backups for a reason. If the students gave her a persona in their minds, Adrienne hoped it would be one of a compassionate teacher rather than a frightening or harsh one.

At least she wasn't the Head of any of the houses, and couldn't be seen as favoring any particular house. Yes, she was a Ravenclaw graduate, but that didn't mean that she would lean towards them or direct all of her given points towards those students in particular.

Transfiguration: Pod 4 - Lesson 1 Empty Re: Transfiguration: Pod 4 - Lesson 1

Post by Benjamin Gillis Tue Sep 30, 2014 9:51 pm

Last class of the day, Ben thought haphazardly. He was particularly excited for his Transfiguration lesson as he had spent countless hours of his young life secretly (and sometimes not so secretly) trying to transform ordinary, boring objects into much, much cooler ones… usually having to do with some version of a giant sea creature. He, on several occasions, transfigured (via imagination) his dog, Paco, into a flying Pegasus, a process his parents did not appreciate, however, not nearly as much as Paco.

Ben was muggle born and had spent his whole life in a place almost entirely the opposite of where he was walking now. Ben traveled the corridors of Hogwarts in utter appreciation for the extraordinary experiences he was now privy too.  Ben, without thought, let out a sharp “Whooo” at the idea. Several, more bad-tempered students gave Ben unappreciative glances while others just looked at him bemusedly with half smiles on their face.  Ben took notice towards neither. Hogwarts was an atmosphere that spawned a superfluity of different character personalities. There were those, like Ben, who truly loved what he was a part of and spent virtually every minute of every day in complete, blissful enjoyment and there were also those who had been exposed to the magical world since birth and were numb to the happenings of Hogwarts.
In the spirit of this, Ben walked briskly towards the Transfiguration Classroom located on the 4th floor of the castle. He had heard from a few of the older Gryffindor students that his teacher had just graduated from Hogwarts. Ben hoped that this meant she would be more lenient towards his tendencies for distraction. Most professors took issue with his imaginative comments and lack of attention span. Even now as he walked he had to take extra care not to be sidetracked and miss his turn off for the classroom.

Ben found his way to the correct room and walked through the doorway, unexpectedly realizing he was the first one there.  He paused “I guess being on time is what happens when you don’t think about a guy inventing Potions out of Potatoes and onions.” He proclaimed matter-of-factly, to no one in particular. His teacher was laying teapots out on each of the desks and he walked towards the nearest one, mind flowing with the possibilities of what he could turn his teapot into… a bicycle… a bow and arrows… a giant sea creature…

Transfiguration: Pod 4 - Lesson 1 Empty Re: Transfiguration: Pod 4 - Lesson 1

Well that was nice.

A whole day of classes, and he enjoyed it. It was his first day in Hogwarts, but still, Brice thought he should spend it to its max. He arrived to the classroom happily, knowing that he probably knew more than he should of Transfiguration. Other than being an animagus in training that quickly acquired the Patronus Charm, he also had an unusual affinity with Transfiguration, which was what led him to attempt at becoming an animagus. He spent almost his entire summer with his face buried in a transfiguration book, or other times a potions one. He thought he was more than ready for the class. Arriving to the classroom, he quickly entered, and upon seeing only a single person, along with the teacher, surprised him. Yet, it probably wasn't all that bad. Just a little more waiting. Too. Excited.

Transfiguration: Pod 4 - Lesson 1 Empty Re: Transfiguration: Pod 4 - Lesson 1

Post by Everly Bardugo Sat Oct 04, 2014 10:50 pm

Glancing up from her endeavors to keep from dropping any teapots, Adrienne found that a first year had come in. She didn't actually recognize him, as it was the first day of classes, but she offered a smile in greeting anyway. Although she wasn't at all certain what he was talking about, at least he seemed fairly eager to be in his classes. That was a good sign in her opinion, so she wouldn't be at all likely to judge him for his words. Frankly, she wasn't the sort to judge anyone at all, but everyone seemed to have exceptions to their own rules, Adrienne mused.

"Afternoon," she greeted lightly, setting down another teapot on a desk in the second row. Another student walked in just as she said it, so Adrienne let the greeting be directed at both students. "Since you two are the first here, would you like to be partners for today's assignment? We're working on turning these teapots into tortoises. Since it will be a bit difficult for the younger students, it would be nice to have older students help."

Depositing the extra teapots back in their box, Adrienne turned to the board, writing out the information they would need.

Teapots to Tortoises:

  • Spell creates blue light
  • Spell motion: Swirl wand around the top of the object.

(ooc: There is no official spell on the HP wiki or lexicon, so you're welcome to make one up or just say something like, "Adrienne said the incantation as she swirled her wand around the teapot." Of course, that only applies if the character does it properly.)

Transfiguration: Pod 4 - Lesson 1 Empty Re: Transfiguration: Pod 4 - Lesson 1

Post by Emily Night Sun Oct 05, 2014 6:17 pm

Emily wasn't really good at any lesson. She didn't really like to learn about new things. She also wasn't smart one. It took her long time to understand what they needed to do than others. That is why she gives up studying so easily too. So far she have got her grades up thanks to her few nerds who doea her homework away.

Today it was time for lesson. Transfiguration and Charm one. She had no idea how this lesson will end for her. She actually sucked at these two classes.

She walked into the classroom and took a seat. She didn't even bother to say hello. She wasn't even polite one. She didn't really a see point there to say it.

Christine was excited about going to classes and taking them. She was good at studying and always wanted to learn more. Transfiguration/Charms lesson sounded like good idea. She really wanted to know what they will learn in that lesson now. Ahe had no idea what it could be.

She soon walked into the classroom and saw there already few students and professor. She greeted them and took seat. She looked at the teapot on her table and wondered what they need do with it. Then she looked at the board and still didn't get it right.

"What we do with this teapot?" She asked the with cioursity.

Transfiguration: Pod 4 - Lesson 1 Empty Re: Transfiguration: Pod 4 - Lesson 1

Post by Everly Bardugo Sun Oct 05, 2014 8:38 pm

Adrienne watched as a Slytherin girl walked in, keeping to herself, and frowned a bit. Doing her best to hide the slight twinge of disappointment, the recent graduate looked over at the Hufflepuff that had just walked in. Realizing that the girl would have missed her little introduction to the lesson, Adrienne walked over and took an extra teapot off of the desk to her right.

She set her teapot down on Christine's desk, realizing belatedly that she recognized the girl from around school. After all, Adrienne had only graduated the year before, and was actually quite skilled at remembering face. "Here, I'll show you," she offered, speaking loud enough that the other students might hear and look over to watch. It would be helpful, she decided, for them to know what their goal was.

Pulling her wand from within her robes, Adrienne pointed the tip downwards, swirling it around the lid of the teapot and voicing the spell. A little dash of blue light left the tip of her wand, surrounding the teapot. When the light dimmed and went away, a small tortoise was sat there on the desk, looking about as though he wasn't at all sure how he had gotten there. Reaching down, she picked him up gently, ensuring that he wouldn't knock into Christine's teapot.

"Does that make sense?" She asked, looking around the room to anyone who might have any questions.

Transfiguration: Pod 4 - Lesson 1 Empty Re: Transfiguration: Pod 4 - Lesson 1

Post by Benjamin Gillis Wed Oct 08, 2014 7:43 pm

Ben studied his teapot expectantly and with great anticipation. He glanced once more around the room, investigating his environment for some sort of clue that would shine a light on to what exactly he would be doing with this piece of kitchenware (or more so, what he would be turning it into).

“Afternoon” the young professor said lightly, setting down one of the teapots.

Ben was the first one to arrive that day for his Transfiguration lesson; however he was certainly not the last. Just as Professor Poliakoff greeted Ben for the first time, another, older student walked into the classroom. He was much taller than Ben and sported a head of spikey blond hair which Ben thought was pretty “cool”.

"Since you two are the first here, would you like to be partners for today's assignment? We're working on turning these teapots into tortoises. Since it will be a bit difficult for the younger students, it would be nice to have older students help." Professor Poliakoff continued.

“Brilliant.” Ben exclaimed allowed without much consideration. His mind immediately went to the finished product. Soon he would be face to face with a living, breathing creature that he created out of the same thing his mother used to make tea. A tortoise that he would bring into this world. Maybe he would get to keep it. If he did, he would not only have his awesome frog, El Hefe, but a tortoise named the dalai lama?...  no, mother tortoisia?... maybe Jeff?... doesn’t matter, Ben’s mind raced. He gathered his things and hurried to sit next to his partner for the day with high expectations.

Ben sat down carelessly across from the older student, placing his class materially roughly in front of him and offered his hand in greeting.

"I’m pumped we get to be partners, I’m probably not very good at this transfiguration stuff…I’m Ben, by the way, what’s your name?”

By this time, a few newcomers to the class had arrived and were asking questions as to what we would be doing with the teapot, questions Prof. Poliakoff decided to answer with a demonstration. She pulled out her wand and made a swirling motion that caused a flash a blue light to spurt from the end of her wand, surrounding the teapot in a hue of illumination. When the light had cleared, the teapot that had once stood idle atop the desk had vanished and in its place stood a living, breathing tortoise.

Ben looked from the Professor, to the tortoise and back and then towards his partner.

“Intense!” he exclaimed, hardly containing his excitement.

Christine did listen what professor said and showed now there. She totally understood what she had to do now. She nodded her head and took her wand then out. She did take deep breath and looked at that teapot.

She wasn't really good at in such spells but it never hurts to try and then give up or ask what she is doing wrong. She pointed the wand towards that teapot and for few seconda she just stared at it. She needed to consindrate first.

"Let's do it," she said there quietly to herself and took one more time deep breath. She said the spell and same time pointed wand to teapot. She saw blue light come out her wand, teapot was surronded like by fog and soon it did go away. There was nkw a tortoise. It was first time ever that she git it right with first time.

Christine smiled at her success. She also looked what others did. She saw how that other girl starred at professor and then teapot, saw her sigh and then she did it again. That was do weird.

Emily did understood what they had to do with teapot but she didn't see the point of that spell at all. She looked at professor, then teapot and sighed. She did like that many times. She just yried to figure out why they had to do such silly thing.

She even did saw how two students succeed in it. She just shook het head. She didn't plan to do it right now. "Why we need to learn such silly spell. Give me one good reason why I should do it and where you can use it in real life?" She asked there now.

If professor doesn't give her gokd reason then she won't do it but if does she will do it. She crossed her arms on her chest and looked at professor. She waited for the answer now there.
