Okay! So we're starting a new program here, called Achievements. As you may have seen on your character profiles, there's a new section with "0/45" there. Want to change that? Here's how!
We've compiled a list of things to do around PA that you can get some credit for! I mean, we all love writing, and we all love hanging out with folks. But isn't it kinda nice to be like, "Look at all of these things I've done!" ? I like to think people would find it amusing, and it gives some ideas for areas to post in and things like that. So hopefully this helps out if you ever get stuck.
This is how it works:
We'll have another thread called the Achievements Log. If you want credit for any of them, you'll need to post there. Some will require links to posts, and some are definitely harder than others. But I've organized them so that they're separated into categories, which will help you pick which ones you want to go after first/next/etc.
There's a FAQ at the bottom of the page with everything we expect people to ask about. May update this for later questions.
REMEMBER: The ones marked with Asterisks ( * ) must have been completed AFTER this post to receive credit. So, after September 5, 2014. For new members after that date, the asterisks aren't relevant.
General Achievements:
- It's Been A Week! Have at least one "colored" character active for a week.
- A Whole Month! Have at least one "colored" character active for a month.
- Six Months, You Say? Have at least one "colored" character active for six months. Can be one character or several provided at least one remains active the entire time.
- Whoah! A Year's Gone By! Have at least one "colored" character active for one year. Can be just one, or multiple so long as at least one remains active the entire year.
- Why, Hello there!* Post in someone's 'Comings&Goings' thread within five days of it being posted. Link the post to complete the achievement.
- Write With Me? Post a Roleplay Request thread. Link the thread to complete the achievement.
- Post Fest.* Post at least 8 IC posts in 24 hours, provided the word count is at least 150 words. Link the posts/thread (if they're all in one) to get credit.
- How Many?! List the number of posts your character(s) have made. If they equal or add up to 1000, you'll earn this achievement.
- What a Guy/Gal!* Help out someone new or someone asking a question in the cbox. Either screenshot it or point it out to a staff member while the message is visible. [Note: Lightshot Screenshot is a free screenshot app that will not harm your computer. Very handy.]
- Let's Do It! Start your first roleplay thread. If you've been a member for a while, just post a request for this achievement and the staff will know that you've completed it. Otherwise, link the thread to get credit.
- We Don't Bite!* Participate in an IC thread with a staff member (on any of their accounts). Must be at least 2 pages long. Link for credit.
- Three's Company.* Participate in a group roleplay with at least two other people. Fight threads count, as well as any site-plot related threads with more than two people. Link the thread for credit.
- Been A Long Day.* Participate in a thread that lasts ten pages (without being under word count, and with every post having at least some sort of action or inter-character reaction.) Link the thread if you believe you have completed it. Group threads count.
- Getting Involved.* Post in a group thread either related to the site plot specifically, or a group fight thread. Link to the thread for credit.
- They'll Be Missed. Have a "colored" character die through a thread (only counts if it's an IC post by either that character or one of your own reacting to their death). These threads need to be outside of the AU and/or Future forums. Link the thread for credit.
- Creative Person, You! Post in the Creative Corner, either with writing or graphics or pictures of your handmade work. Does not count if you are requesting something. Must be original work posted by you. Link for credit.
- Signature, Please! Request a signature/avatar or both from a member of PA and credit them when you use it. Post after using the image for 2 weeks (as is the recommended time for any requests made in graphics "shops").
- Five? That's Almost a Hundred! Name at least five characters that you have had approved [aka "colored"] and roleplayed with for at least a month (each).
- Meet My Friend! Refer a friend to PA. Give their alias and/or link to their app.
- Keeping Track. Keep an updated thread tracker for at least a month. Link for credit.
- Who Even Is That? Create a Character Plot including the relationships of at least one character. Link for credit.
- What Do You Think?* Give a suggestion or offer your opinion in the PA Discussion forum. Link post/thread to receive credit for the achievement.
- We'll Remember You! Create a plot that gets at least one of your characters' names on an In Depth Timeline, as approved by staff members. NOTE: This project is in the works. More information soon!
- Medal Owner. Participate in a staff-run competition and receive at least a participatory medal.
- Trophy Case. Place (first through third) in one of the competitions/scavenger hunts hosted by staff members.
- Shining Awards.* Participate in five competitions/scavenger hunts hosted by staff members.
- Have a Good One.* Know about someone's birthday? Start a thread in General Discussion to wish them a happy birthday! Or post in the thread on the day of their birthday. Link for credit.
- Open for Business!* Start an open thread anywhere on the boards and put it up in the Open Threads List so a staff member can add it. Link for credit.
- Joining in.* Be the first person to reply to an open thread. Link for credit.
- What a Month!* Complete at least thirty IC posts within the time of a month, on a single account. Information on this is available in the Statistics section at the bottom of the forum homepage. No linking required.
Super Achievements:
- Ser Post-A-Lot. List your character(s) and their number of posts. If they equal or add up to 5,000 you will receive this achievement.
- I Don't Wanna Leave! Have at least one 'colored' character active for three years. Can be one character or multiple, but they must remain active to receive credit.
- Ten? No Problem.* Participate in a one-on-one thread that lasts at least ten pages without spamming or anything like that. Link for credit.
- Twenty's More Than Ten.* Participate in a group or one-on-one thread that lasts at least twenty pages without being just dialogue or just descriptions. All posts must involve some sort of action or inter-character reaction. Link for credit.
- Lots of 'Em! Name ten characters that you have made and had approved [aka "colored"] by a staff member. They must have been used for at least a month to count.
- I've Got You. Make a character for someone who posts in the Character Request forum. The character must be used for at least two months to count.
Holiday/Seasonal Achievements: These apply for real life dates, not site events.
- Boo!* Post in an IC thread on Halloween. Link for credit.
- Love-ly.* Post in an IC thread on Valentine's day. Link for credit.
- Shiny Decorations!* Participate in a Holiday Scavenger hunt.
- Lucky You!* Post in an IC thread on St. Patrick's Day. Link for credit.
- Starting Again.* Post in an IC thread on New Years Eve or New Years Day. Link for credit.
- Spring Fling.* Post at least 5 IC posts within the months that qualify as 'Spring' months. Link all for credit.
- Summer Heat.* Post at least 10 IC posts within the months that qualify as 'Summer' months. Link all for credit.
- Fall Fun.* Post at least 5 IC posts within the months that qualify as 'Fall/Autumn' months. Link all for credit.
- Winter Wonder.* Post at least 5 IC posts within the months that qualify as 'Winter' months.
FAQ:
1. The idea was borrowed from my friends at VT, who gave us permission to use it. These achievements were created by me, though, so they're not taken from that site.
2. Yes, Staff can participate in this, and we likely will.
3. All questions should be directed to me through PM rather than on the Log list, if you please.
4. The ones with asterisks are meant to be done after this post is up, because we're hoping this helps people get more involved and give more reason to post
5. The people who turn in achievements will get the number updated on all accounts, provided their Multiple Characters list is up to date. If not, I may not know exactly who all is yours and miss one. If that's the case, check your list and then put up a comment when you next turn in an achievement and I'll sort that out!
