Kit breathed a sigh of relief as Tiffany explained that most other students weren't going to have an advantage from already knowing magic before they got there. It sounded like some would, but not as many as she feared.
"My parents were-" Kit began, about to mention their research, how they were studying why some people had magic and some didn't, but she cut herself short. "Never mind" She finished quickly. She didn't want people to know they were in prison. It probably was better not to bring up their research at all, given that's why the Ministry was chasing them. Maybe talking about it would get her in trouble, or even worse- make her parents have to stay longer in Azkaban.
Kit smiled at Tiffany's offer to be her friend. "Yeah! Another reason to hope for Ravenclaw." She said enthusiastically. All of a sudden, a strong gust of wind blew and she lost hold of her trunk, which she had been balancing on her finger. She hadn't really noticed it was such a windy day before or she would have been more careful.
"Oh no!" Kit exclaimed as her trunk blew across the platform easily. "How do I end the spell?!" She asked frantically, but she must have done something wrong (or right?) and the trunk clattered to the ground again. Kit winced, hoping she hadn't packed anything breakable in there.
