GENERAL APPEARANCE:
Mostly it's that bald head of his that gets the most attention. Alright that's not entirely true. Nothing is incredibly stand out about Kingsley, in his opinion. He likes to look neat and trim, though his fondness for an occasional odd hat does raise a few eyebrows. He wears glasses often at work. Preferring his thick framed ones instead of those sleek little jobbies, he's sure he'll lose if he were to get a pair. Some could consider him to be a handsome man, but Kingsley doesn't see it.
His clothes are always well pressed, well, at least he likes them to be. He walks with an extremely confident air and whether or not it comes off as pompous to those around him, well that depends on how well they know him. At work, his smile isn't used quite as much, but he has tendency to laugh at things he really shouldn't. He prefers gold jewelry and often has two rings on his right hand, one on his left.

PERSONALITY:
Shacklebolt is tough. A grizzled veteran, and survivor, of three wizarding wars, he is perhaps more experienced than any other person in Wizarding Britain. Shacklebolt has an unsheakable faith in the ideals of equality and freedom, and has dedicated his life to defeating the enemies of these ideals. He has served as minister, led the order and been headmaster to Hogwarts. In these jobs he showed an almost impossible ability to deal with enormous stress and responsbility. These jobs revealed some of his faults though. He has difficulty dealing with the deceitful nature of politics, as he can be a bit too trustful and forgiving.
To people he doesn't know, Kingsley appears trustful and competent - but perhaps too serious. Amongst friends he is much more easy going, but even then he rarely loses his iron personality.

CHARACTER HISTORY

Early Years: Shacklebolt was the only child to an old pureblood family. Though pureblood, his parents were never much like the other pureblood families (Malfoys etc.) They sent him to a muggle school and did not object to him making friends with other muggles. They were well off though, and so Kingsley grew up quite spoiled.
Hogwarts Years:
Early on Kingsley did not display any great talent. He was not very hard working at all. At the age of 14, his father passed away and all the inheritance went to another branch of Kingsley's family. At this point he became much more ambitious, as he had to work for his living, and wanted to make his father proud. After this he proved to be one of the most brilliant students in school, achieving nine Outstandings.
Adulthood:
After graduating Kingsley married his girlfriend from Hogwarts and became an auror. She would later die very early on in the Wizarding War, killed by pureblood extremists as a muggleborn. Her death would serve as his motivation to join the Order, and fight death eaters for the rest of his life.

When Voldemort returned, Kingsley was serving as Minister of Magic. He failed to stop his third rise to power, and instead fled into hiding. He led the Order briefly, and then took over Hogwarts as the last bastion against the death eaters. Here he served as Headmaster and successfully held off the Death Eaters, eventually being a key figure in the eventual defeat of Voldemort.
Instead of returning as minister, Kingsley decided to continue being the headmaster of Hogwarts. This turned out to be a bad decision, as the ministry began to grow corrupt. Eventually they seeked to control Hogwarts, which Kingsley declined. Subsequent struggles with the ministry proved unsuccessful and Kingsley again went into hiding.
Lately, with the spotlight finally off him, Shacklebolt has been living a peaceful life. However, recent problems with the ministry means that he may have to come out of this retirement.
