Trisha turned her chin to look over her shoulder, finding Caspian as he walked into the living room. Her lips came together to mould into a straight line, telling him from across the room that things weren't quite right. Not at all, actually. Adrienne had never looked so torn. She knew what she had to do to put her mind at ease, but she also clearly knew what it would do to her relationship with Kaiden if she actually went through with it. And now she was part of the way through already.
Wiping her cheeks with the back of her hand, Adrienne offered a weak greeting before ducking her chin in embarrassment. Trisha reached a hand out towards Caspian, sliding her fingers between his and tugging him onto the couch next to her. "Hun, Addie needs to stay with us for a while. She's trying to find her brother and needs Robin to get in touch with one of his friends."
Turning to the brunette on her other side, Trisha gestured to the stairway. "There's a guest room up and to the right. If you want to get settled in, I can fix something for dinner, yeah?"
Adrienne nodded, gathering her bag and standing up, which made Trisha nearly sigh with relief. Even still, she held tighter to Caspian's hand until the older girl was out of sight and the door closed upstairs. When she heard it, her head fell against his shoulder, her hand relaxing. "Kaiden told her to leave..." she mumbled, the confusion and worry evident.
That wouldn't ever happen between her and Caspian would it? Trisha knew she shouldn't have cared, because if had all been forced or whatever, but it would be easier in the end if she and Caspian ended things on good terms. The last thing she would be able to deal with was his casting her aside after she had come to rely on him. Releasing his hand entirely, Trisha burrowed into his side, ducking under his arm and wrapping one of her own around his back.
"Cass," she started, her spare hand lifting to his chin so she could ensure he was looking at her. "This world is so messed up, you know? I need you to understand that I- I love you. I'm right awful at showing it, but I do. And if those two are any example, it's near impossible to keep things going well these days, but I'm determined to keep you. That actually sounds kind of strange," she admitted, sitting up a bit straighter as her cheeks flushed, "but I need you. I've needed you since we sat under that tree and I was so sure I'd be the worst at relationships ever. And I might still be, really, but so long as it doesn't mean you're unhappy I guess I'll just keep working on that bit.
"So, can we please not fight like that? The last thing I want is to hurt you," Trisha promised, her gaze dropping as she hesitated, but returning once she had steeled herself. "I mean it, Cass. I love you."
