Calista woke up to her alarm at six in the morning, she groaned wanting to sleep more. She got out of bed and headed to the bathroom for a shower. After finishing she headed to her closet grabbing out a pair of jeans, and a pink peasant top with a black leather vest. After getting dressed she grabbed a pair of socks and her brown riding boots then headed downstairs. Sitting on her bench in the front hall she put on her socks and boots then grabbed her brown leather gloves with a small flashlight. Putting the gloves in her back pocket she headed out the door, turning on the flashlight she headed to the barn.
Calista opened up the barn door taking in the smell of hay and a small hint of leather polish. She walked up to the first stall and opened then top part of the door, then she did so to each stall. The horses were well up by now and were watching her from the windows of the stalls. Calista made her way to where she started with a push cart. She started pilling buckets from each stall onto it until there were no more left. Each horse had two buckets, one was for their water and the other was for the grain. After filling each bucket and placing it back in the their stalls she then filled the cart with hay doing only one at time to ensure they got the right amount. Calista then left the barn shutting the door so nothing she didn't want in there didn't get in as she made her way back to the house.
Walking in the house she made her way to the kitchen to make herself something to eat. She put on some coffee and then started making some eggs as well as some bacon. After eating he did some cleaning around the house then finally walked out of the house. She checked the door to make sure it was locked then headed for the barn. She opened the door and walked up to the first stall, the plaque below it read Spirit.
"Hello handsome boy. You wanna go for a run?" Calista asked the horse petting his head softly. "I'll go get the reins and be right back sweeting. We're gonna have some fun today, no saddle this time." Calista walked to the tack room grabbing his bridle then walked back out locking the door behind her. She walked back up to Spirit's stall and opened the door, Spirit stepped out towards her.
Spirit was a Clydsdale, a draft horse, beauty and power all in one. He was all black except his socks which were pure white. Calista had raised him from a colt and they have been linked strongly ever since. She put his bridle on him then she walked over to the mounting block which set a good 5 feet off the ground.
She got on the block and climbed onto Spirits back smiling, she need this as much as he did. She had been so busy planting and working in the fields that she forgot to take a break and go for a long ride. So Calista cleared her mind and took a deep breathe then said, "Run." He reared up then took off like a bullet towards the trail ahead. The sun lighting the way as it was rising up into the warm spring air.
