The Ravenclaw took a harsh swallow as he suddenly felt a tension run between the two boys. He'd gone somewhere he shouldn't have, brought up where Gordon lived. Then again hadn't it been him who had done that? Gordon had asked Bertie where he lived, and naturally, Bertie had asked Gordon politely in return. It was standard small talk. Someone asks you a question you answer, say a few words on the answer, then fire back with a 'what about you.' Either there was something unusual with Gordon or- No. There was definitely something mysterious about Gordon. Perhaps he'd ask Vivianna next time he saw her if she knew anything about him, she tended to know everything that was happening, maybe it was the Slytherin in her? Or simply sitting in the Slytherin Common Room listening to gossip.
Manchester. That wasn't that bad of a place? Bertie had never been there before but he'd heard of it. It was a rather large city, had two football teams (with large followings), had many train stations and had recently been in the news for opening up a new business sector in the heart of the city, bringing in more and more jobs. Surely if people were investing their money to Manchester it couldn't be that bad of a place to live? Unless of course the reason for Gordon's dislike was much deeper. Much darker.
Bertie wasn't quiet sure whether he wanted to continue the conversation. Given the choice he'd grab snidget from Gordon's lap, pocket him, then head rapidly from the courtyard without looking back. The only problem was that he didn't have an excuse to leave and, even though he had an extremely vivid imagination, Bertie felt pressured and truth be told he never was one to work well under pressure.
'Sorry.' Bertie muttered, looking down at his feet before returning his gaze at Snidget. Gordon wasn't playing with him anymore, not giving Snidget the loving he deserved. 'Would you mind if I-?' Finally, the words had escaped his mouth as he gestured to taking Snidget from the older boys lap.
