Jack remembered meeting Ollie officially for the first time. Ari had been horribly sick before the full moon. Both she and Ollie had looked down at their mutual friend like his life was fading before them, and both had held his hands, and both had tried to joke through it because they had been so scared, and yet Ollie had allowed her to go with Ari. He had allowed her to take his place, and he had known nothing but that Ari had esteemed her. The stakes had been so high and Ollie had chosen to trust Jack, because Ollie was just a good spirited person.
It was a shame. Had things not become so strange between herself and Ariel, she and Ollie might have been great friends. She did not know how these sorts of things worked, because, well, this had never been her territory. She had remembered Chase telling her that Jack could no longer be friends with Elijah because of their failed relationship. But it had not worked out. Jack had continued her friendship with Andrew until he left, and Jack had only become cold to Elijah when she could no longer be warm.
She liked to think this could be a friendship here. But experience told her otherwise. This would probably be one of those solitary instances. Ah well.
He spoke of his writing and Jack tilted her head. She had not known enough of Ollie in her school years to suppose what sort of career path he would take, so she was listening with much surprise and little context. She listened thoughtfully, wishing she could give more advice, but in her line of business, creativity was not required - and yet somehow necessary.
Jack shrugged, "All I know about writing is that you're supposed to write what you know. So if you don't know what you're writing, find someone who does."
She smiled a bit at his next words. "A boat and a friend. Most people would consider that wealthy."
