Two days Tiffany Cruz hadn't attended any of her classes. The first day Amelia had assumed that her second year student was in the hospital wing, or up ill in her tower dormitory. However upon inspection it appeared her little Ravenclaw wasn't ill at all, nor was she skipping classes - Ravenclaw's rarely did that. After two days when Amelia heard of Tiffany not being in lessons yet again Amelia decided to scout her pesky student at dinner. Although dinner didn't exactly go to plan. Tiffany wasn't there and her house mates claimed that she hadn't been seen since she said she wanted to collect some sort of plant for a potion that was only found in the forbidden forest.
The forbidden forest. The forest. Amelia wasn't one to lose her cool but she'd once lost a son who'd entered a forest before. Thankfully he was safely in her arms once more but that was despite the point. She'd be broken, and to some extent still was, if she wasn't broken Amelia wouldn't have exactly flipped out and shouted at all the second years who didn't seem concerned about Tiffany's disappearance. Then again, any protective Mother could relate to the incidence of losing a child.
After her sudden anger expelling from her inner core Amelia left the Great Hall and to an empty classroom on the first floor. She had to clear her head, getting angry wasn't going to solve anything, but it had caused something inside of her change. A change to fight. Amelia had lost her child, and almost lost Hallie at some point too. She wasn't going to let a fellow Mother lose her child. After settling herself Amelia returned to the Great Hall at the end of the feast she announced that she would be entering the forbidden forest to search for Tiffany, as that is where she was believed to be. To Amelia's surprise a fair few number of students rose from their seats, agreeing to join the search. It was refreshing to see such a strong surge of emotion and bond between the students but all the professors couldn't be going into the forest, the others agreed to search the castle and other areas of the grounds - a couple even decided to venture into Hogwarts with a team of students.
There was just one problem. The forest was forbidden to students, mainly due to the dangerous beings that lurked within them. If Amelia was going to lead a team of students into the forest to search for Tiffany then she needed extra hands. It was that point in which Amelia sent a patronus to her daughter Hallie Rookwood, newly married and a trainee auror.
As Amelia gathered her team in the entrance hall a bright white light came into view: a patronus, Hallie's lioness. It spoke four simple words: 'Meet at the gates.'
'Is everyone here?' Amelia asked, glancing around before she led her team of students out of the oak doors, across the sloping lawns to the wing-boar topped gates of Hogwarts. A familiar blonde with blue eyes was positioned the other side, accompanied someone who looked only slightly older than her: Carter. Carter was a fellow trainee auror and it became apparent that Hallie had brought him along for the adventure. On top of that if would be good practice for the aurors.
'Hi Mum.' Hallie said as Amelia opened the gates and allowed Hallie to enter the castle grounds, which were part hers considering she was married to the Headmaster. Hallie had only been married a week or so and within that week she had spent barely any time with her fresh groom Theodore. Hallie was still on the fence about whether their marriage would develop in the way that the Ministry wanted, although she did secretly enjoy being on the front page of Witch Weekly in her wedding dress. 'Hogwarts: A Wedding' the title of her four page article had been, although since her appearance in the magazine she'd received mixed critique. There had been the occasional hate mail, laced with bubotuber pus, from rebels annoyed at her compliance with the law. Thankfully the first boobytrapped letter hadn't been sealed correctly and it gave the game away, meaning Hallie had to resort to opening her letters with her wand. She could have burnt them but they were so hilarious to read the pathetic hate. In fact, Hallie preferred the hate mail compared to the mountains of 'good luck' letters wishing her well. It felt strange to get sudden media attention - even the Daily Prophet had requested an interview with her, not that Hallie had accepted the interview. She didn't want to be the one to soften the Daily Prophet - plus she always was a fan of witch weekly.
'This is Carter.' Hallie introduced her partner to her Mother, noticing some students who weren't much younger than herself stood behind Amelia. It made her smile. This was exactly the sort of thing that Hallie would have loved to get involved in with as a student. Adventure and adrenaline were at the heart of everything Hallie did, even if that had slackened slightly since the marriage saga.
