"Toby," the werewolf told the little girl, granting her the exact same response that he had given her aunt. There werewolf was distantly aware of Jack leaving the room, but his eyes were still locked upon the young child. Her eyes sparkled with hypnotizing innocence, and Toby wondered for a moment if that was the reason so many people wanted children.
The right side of Toby's lips curled upwards for the briefest of moments as Jack returned to the room. She spoke in a way that should be bluntly unfriendly, but the underlying tone soothed away any possible insult that could come from the abruptness of her words. Finally tearing his eyes away from Sunny, the werewolf turned to face his host.
With a smooth inhale, the teenager met Jack's eyes head-on. Toby was far from someone who enjoyed having heart-to-hearts with people. Luckily, the wizard pegged Jack as feeling much the same as he did on the matter of emotional talks. Even so, the youngest Cooper felt the need to say something to the woman whom had so easily invited him into her home.
"Thanks," Toby said, the sounds tumbling from his lips before his brain could come up with something more suitable. "I mean it," the blonde continued, brows furrowing slightly as his eyes bore into Jack's. The boy wished for a split second that he was more eloquent, that he was better with words. But he wasn't, and so the male gathered all the emotion held inside his body of flesh and bone and blood. "Thank you," the words were no louder than a whisper, but the pure feeling held within them had twisted Toby's voice into something low and gruff.
Blinking, the werewolf broke the spell between the two beings, and quickly turned towards the kitchen. After all, there was stew to be eaten.
