We have been a Harry Potter Roleplaying site since 2007. If you're an old member we hope you come check out the discord link provided below. And if you're looking for a new roleplaying site, well, we're a little inactive. But every once and a while nostalgia sets in and a few of our alumni members will revisit the old stomping grounds and post together. Remember to stay safe out there. And please feel free to drop a line whenever!

What’s Happening?
Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. Take this time to start any of those really weird threads you never got to make with old friends and make them now! Just remember to come say hello in the chatbox below or in the discord. Links have been provided in the "Comings and Goings" forum as well as the welcome widget above.

[[OOC: Nothing wrong with long posts! My posts seem to be getting longer, including random backstory & thoughts & stuff. I can't seem to help it...]]

As Caiden read the page, he confirmed her suspicions. There were thestrals around them, but only he could see them. He then mentioned about how only people who had seen someone die could see them. Molly didn't know what to say to this, anything she wanted to say seemed too...intrusive.

"No, I haven't seen anyone die." she responded, her voice subconsciously going quieter along with Caiden's. "Er, who have you seen die?" she asked, "I mean, if you don't mind saying." she added hastily afterwards.

As she looked back towards Caiden, it almost looked like he was been crying, or like he was trying not to cry. Molly had no idea what he was going through. Nobody close to her had ever died. She wasn't even that close to most of her family, her Dad apparently had this massive family but she had only met most of them once or twice at weddings or other gatherings and her mother was an only child, so a very small family. Molly couldn't imagine what it would be like to loose someone close, let alone actually witness their death.

So that was it, he wasn't hallucinating they were real but only very few could see them and those very few have witness death and were able to see them. Caiden, he was part of it, nothing he was proud of. On the bright side, they were brilliant critters, 'fantastic' quoting the title of the book. Caiden smiled and then sighed, he just wanted his grandfather back, he never knew how much he would miss him.

"Huh?" Caiden who caught himself staring blankly into space and losing track of the present time. "Oh, my grandfather," he replied, looking at her. "Died in a car crash," he lied, looking back at the birds. Normally he would be a very good liar, lying to weasel his way out of trouble if he ever stole something. But today, he was horrible at it and the girl could probably see through him. He didn't care though, he didn't want to talk about it, just talking or thinking about him hurt a lot.

Caiden decided to lighten the mood, despite the fact Molly can't see them and he hoped to god she didn't have to. He started walking towards the creatures, unaware if they were dangerous or not but he was just gonna risk it today. "Hey, come on let go pat one of them," he wave her over, a small smile appearing on his face once again. "They won't bite," he joked, he actually had no idea.

As soon as Caiden responded, Molly wished she hadn't asked. A car crash didn't seem that likely for a wizard. Plus you generally didn't see people die in a car crash, unless it was the in the hospital afterwards or something. Caiden seemed uncomfortable though. Her big mouth had struck again!

"Oh, ok." she simply said, not knowing what to say then.

Then Caiden asked her to go and pat one. Molly wasn't afraid of them or anything, in fact she generally loved magical creatures. She just felt a bit uneasy about petting invisible creatures, well, creatures that were invisible to her at least.

"Erm, sure. Yeah. Can you show me where they are." she asked him, "Are they like all around us?" she took a look around.

She felt like she was surrounded by them, though she had actually no idea where they were. Pushing that feeling away, Molly walked towards Caiden. He appeard to be by one of those creatures. She made sure to walk slowly, not wanting to bump into one. According to the book, they were extremely dangerous, so Molly didn't want to anger them. She did usually have a way with creatures, but usually she could see the creatures.

Caiden could tell that the girl wasn't buying the whole car crash story at all. "Bollock," he thought to himself, he slapped himself on the forehead. He could of came up with another story, what kind of wizard die in a car crash. 'You idiot, Caiden!" he sighed. He would've told her the real story, but he wasn't ready to talk about it. Maybe if she stuck around, he probably open up.

Caiden was glad the girl decided to join him in patting this so invisible creature that he could see. He lead her down the forest and carefully trod towards the Thestral. They seem to be gentle, maybe they won't bite after all. "Um, yeah sure, stay close to me i'll show you the way," he said, quietly for no reason. He was shouting on top of his lung next to them, they didn't even move a flinch, what different would it make now. "And no, their just in front of us, there three huge birds and a baby," he told her, giving her a rough idea. "Aw, it's so cute!" he said in a high-pitch noise on accident.

He could feel his heart pounding against his chest, as he trotted carefully towards them. Caiden had no idea if they were dangerous or not, he didn't read into too much detail into them. There was only one way to find out. All of a sudden, in the corner of his eyes he manage to spot a Thestral walking right in front of Molly. "Wait, Molly it's in front of you!" he shouted, pointing towards her, his eyes bewildered.

It was very strange, Molly found, having the creatures that were supposedly just in front of her being described to her. Three adults and a baby, Caiden said. This slightly worried Molly, knowing how protective females could get of their young, something that is common amongst most species. She smiled as Caiden's voice went all high when talking about the baby. Molly found it amusing that a lot of guys, who often had deep voices and seemed so tough, mellowed when young creatures were around.

As Molly moved forwards, Caiden yelled at her that a thestral was right in front of her. Molly stopped dead in her tracks, fearing to move. It probably wasn't the smartest thing, to go trying to pet invisible creatures in the forbidden forest. Molly told herself it was fine, pushing any bad thoughts to the back of her mind.

"Can you tell me when I can move again." she asked Caiden, trying not to be too loud, since apparently a thestral was right in front of her.

Then it struck Molly that now was as good a time as any to see if the creatures liked being stroked. Caiden seemed alright so far, that had to be a good sign. She slowly moved her arm out in front of her, aware that at any moment she could touch the magical beast. She then felt it, a weird, very boney creature. She gave the creature a small stroke, though was completely unable to gage it's reaction. It seemed to be remaining still, so she figured the creature couldn't be too angry or scared.

[[OOC: Feel free to say how the thestral is reacting to Molly btw, if you like.]]

Suddenly it felt like everything in the world had stopped and only they were moving. Caiden opened his eyes slowly, fearing the moment he open his eyes that Molly was laying, motionlessly on the ground. He opened his eyes and sighed, with relief. She was fine, but she seem a bit stuck, frozen in her spot he should say.

"Okay, just hold still," Caiden replied, quietly and watching the bird carefully.

Caiden quickly thought of an idea to take the Thestral away from Molly without harming her in the end. Then an idea struck him, he then searched the ground for a rock and picked one up. But before he could throw it at them, he spotted Molly patting the bird on the head. It wasn't attacking or anything, it didn't seem to be angry so he assumed it was enjoying it. "Somebody must think, you are crazy, petting nothing but thin air," Caiden chuckled.
