Caiden stood behind the girl, peering over her shoulder. She had the book, he was impressed, it was just the book he needed. He swore he came across this creature before, he remembered reading it after her had been shoved in the face by his best friend who was trying to prove he saw them. The girl got up to the page he needed with the heading 'Thestral' etched on the very top of the page. He began to read it.
"Thats the one!" he exclaim, his voice louder than it should be. The teacher in his suppose to be in class could've heard him. He wouldn't want them catching him skipping class, otherwise it was detention for him. Caiden knew he wasn't imagining thing, for a second ago he thought he was but according to the book he wasn't. "This is it," he grinned as he continued to read. Soon, the grin on his face faded into a frown. Caiden felt his eyes beginning to tear up, immediately after he read that these creature only appear to those who saw someone die. "No, wonder you couldn't see it,' said Caiden looking away, battering his eyes together to stop the tears from falling out, he didn't want to look stupid - but he knew he wasn't fooling anyone. "You can only see these creatures if you've witness someone dying," he said, almost in a whisper but loud enough that she could hear.
It was his grandfather he saw die, it all happen when he was sitting in the living room with his grandfather until his mother boyfriend arrived, threatening to hit his mum. Caiden tried to step in to help his mother but ended up being pushed to the side, and back handed by her boyfriend. Only then his grandfather decided he had enough and stood up for them. The rest wasn't pretty, he had lost his grandfather. Caiden would never forgive his mother for bringing her boyfriend inside. Caiden miss his grandfather so much, he was like a father to him, a father he never had and never will have.
