Susan got home at ten thirty at night. She could have taken a portkey home from Japan but she took a muggle plane, it was a bit safer than international portkeys. She went into the kitchen and found nothing in the refrigerator. She laughed. This is what happens when you leave a man alone for a week. What did Ernie do when they were separated?
She found a box of oatmeal and made it the muggle way. She saw a parcel, label from the Berlin Magical Hospital, and opened it. She first found a potion to help with the cuts she got from her duel. Then a piece of paper. She unfolded the piece of paper “Congratulations on your pregnancy. Remember to take your vitamin potion and come in for weekly vists”. She dropped the letter. Wait she couldn’t be pregnant. They said she couldn’t have any more kids after Drew. She re-read it. Merlin, she was pregnant. She put a hand on her stomach. Another baby? Holy Merlin, six kids. She found a week’s worth of vitamin potion. She didn’t even think when she took the first potion.
She put the letter in her drawer in the dresser. Ernie had no reason to be in her drawer. She pushed it shut then moved into the living room. She turned on the muggle telly. She turned on the BBC, she missed England. She missed her parents. She wasn’t enjoying her job as much anymore but then again doing an article on dolphins being slaughtered wasn’t the most enjoyable thing. She know knew why she felt so upset by watching this. Hormones. She always had early symptoms with her other four pregnancies.
She was watching the BBC News and started to cry. She was pregnant. That was the whole reason her and Ernie separated. She wanted more kids. She even wanted to adopt if she had to. She just felt like Ernie was always too into the farm. She didn’t want to lose him again. She took several big slow breaths. She counted to twenty and backwards again. She had to tell herself if Ernie was going to leave over this being together again would never work. She pulled down the wool blanket down off the back of the sofa. She smiled as she held it. She remembered when Ernie gave it to her way back when they were sixteen, for Christmas. She curled up and laid down with the blanket covering her. She may as well sleep as she waits for Ernie. She has to tell him. She couldn’t wait to tell Hannah but she had to tell Ernie first.
((The townhouse is historical to Berlin. The neighbors are really close though.))
