Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. In the Epicenter of it All Empty In the Epicenter of it All

Rivah was relaxing in her office. It was an unusual sight, considering how busy her work usually kept the woman, but today had been pleasantly calm. Currently, the witch was waiting, as in about a minute she had a meeting in that very office. It had come to the woman's attention not long before that she'd never properly met most of her interns. This in mind, the blonde had arranged for all of them to have a little meeting with her individually.

This was to be her first meet-the-intern meeting, and the Department Head wasn't exactly sure what to expect. Glancing down at the file that lay open on her desk, the witch began to flick through it for the third time that day. Hogwarts student, decent grades, seventh year, prefect, Hufflepuff. As much as Rivah loved facts, and she did love them, she thrived on them, in this case the facts weren't giving her much. Leaning back in her seat with a sigh, she resolved herself to just having to wait and see.

Ryo wasn't sure what he was supposed to expect from this meeting. The Department Head was different now, as Jack had stepped down. He'd grown accustomed to the redhead girl as the head of the department and now he was suddenly hurled into an unknown position. He didn't know if this head was nice, or if she was a b*tch. He wasn't sure if he even wanted to know at this point.

Sighing, Ryo approached the office door and he knocked on the door. The Vampire bit his lip and shifted his weight on his feet slightly. He remembered that his mind had changed as to what department he wanted to be in, but he still wanted his original choice too. Maybe this Head would help him decide?

But Ryo wasn't very trusting of people so he didn't know how that would work. For now he just had to get to know the woman.

"Come on in," Rivah called through the door, upon hearing a knock. He was on time, that was always a good sign. In accordance to her paperwork, the teenager had been an intern for her department for a while, which was nice to know. He had been around back when Jack still was, and the witch found herself wondering what the intern thought of the change in power. Jack had been a great boss, but the woman had been woefully unorganized. To this day, Rivah was still discovering things filed in the wrong places.

The Department Head could only hope that this student was interesting in working for her after his graduation. Currently, they were slightly more short-staffed than the woman would like. It wasn't too horrible, but busy days could be quite stressful. Rivah wouldn't force him into the choice, however. There was nothing worse than an employee whom didn't want to be there. The knew that if Ryo was interested in possibly joining the Department, that she could help him decide.

The witch has worked in two of the three sections of the Department before being promoted to Head. When it came down to it, no-one knew the inner workings of this segment of the Ministry better than her.

[OOC: Rivah knows he's a Vampire right?]

Ryo stepped into the office after Rivah had told him to come in and he glanced around it quickly. He'd never seen it so organized. Jack had been a really good boss, she was able to understand things about him others didn't, but she was really unorganized. Not that he'd ever dared to tell her anything like that. She had a bit of a short temper.

"Good morning Ms. Trenton." he greeted her with a ghost of a smile, as was natural of the eighteen year old. Ryo rarely acted like he normally did around friends in situations like this. He did it sometimes, but only with one person in the department, Jake. With everyone else, he felt like he couldn't. They were always so focused and rarely talked to him. Jake was probably the closest in age to him that actually had a conversation with him. He even showed him a little bit about the Beast Department, it helped with his decisions a little bit.

Even though he had a friend in that part of the department, Ryo had decided he didn't want to work there. He'd probably only distract Jake from his work and he had enough to distract him already. With his sister being home for the summer already and his newly-found daughter that he knew nothing about until about six months ago.

Geez, he had a lot on his plate. Ryo didn't want to burden him with anymore having to teach him about things. So it was between being a Spirit or Being Specialist.

((OOC: Yup, it's in her master file.))

"Good morning Ryo. Come, sit down," Rivah said with a soft smile. She did feel a little bad for not having taken the time to get to know her interns, but things had been beyond crazy. Out of seemingly no-where she had gone from worker to boss, and the place was seriously under-funded. The witch was working on that. After all, her Department was one of the most important.

"So Ryo, I've skimmed your file, and it told me that you're in your last year at Hogwarts. I have no intention of pushing anything on you, but I couldn't help but wonder if you've thought at all about working here after your graduation," the blonde witch stated politely.

The woman was aware that her intern was a vampire, and didn't really mind. It would be a bit hypocritical of her if she did, considering her occupation. If he wished for a job in her department, his vampirism might even be considered an advantage in some cases.

"If you are looking for a job in this Department, I'd be more than willing to help you figure out which segment. If you aren't, I do know lots about all the other sections of the Ministry and would definitely be up to finding something that suits your fancy," Rivah added after a moment, settling back into her chair. Everyone had told her when she'd first taken the job that it would get easier and less-stressful with time. The Trenton was pretty sure that the lot of them had been lying.

Ryo nodded and took a seat across from Rivah after he entered the office. He thought about what she said for a moment, even though he already knew what he wanted to do. It was why he'd been trying to get information on all the parts of the department.

"I actually have. I've been able to decide that I do not want to be a Beast Specialist, but I'm not sure on being a Being or Spirit Specialist. They both really interest me." he explained to the blonde department head.

He sighed. "I thought about becoming a Being Specialist because of what I am. I figured that being a creature, not a human, would help me sort of... connect with the other creatures that part of the department sees. I thought I'd be able to help more that way." he added.

"However, I also have this... um... like for spectral beings. They fascinate me, to say the least. I've always wanted to learn about them and get close to them. I mean, the ghost at Hogwarts are good, they're even cool for the first two years maybe at Hogwarts. But after that, being around them so much gets a little bit boring. That doesn't change my opinion about them in general, I'd just like to interact with other beings like them."

He paused for a few moments. Ryo felt like he'd just gone on some sort of rant. "I'm not sure which I'd like to do more though..." he said softly, suddenly becoming quieter.

Rivah listened intently to the male across form her, and couldn't help but smile slightly. Whatever he decided, the witch was pretty sure that he'd be invested in his job. That was always a serious bonus, people who liked their work always preformed better than those who didn't.

"Well, the first thing you have to remember, is that you won't be stuck with your choice for life. If after a few years, you want to try something else, you can. Granted, it might take a few months for me to do all the paperwork and for you to go through basic training, but switching jobs within the Department is surprisingly simple," the Department Head rattled off kindly. After all, she'd done exactly that.

"I was a Sprit Specialist myself before I got the boss job, and I really loved it. I was a Beastie before that, and while I've never officially been a Being Specialist I have done the odd job or two," Rivah stated, before realizing that this information really wouldn't be very helpful to the teenager in front of her.

"I can't really tell you which you'll enjoy more, but don't feel like you should be a Beings Specialist just because of what you are. Although I do have to say, your reflexes will be really helpful if you join the Spirit Squad, poltergeists can be annoyingly fast when they want to be," the blonde shared with her future employee.

No matter how unprofessional the witch thought they were, Rivah still found the nicknames her employees used rubbing off on her. Department Head Trenton was the boss of all Spirit, Being, and Beast Specialists, while "Boss" held power over the "Spirit Squad", "BeSpecs", and "Beasties".
