What’s Happening?
Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. Take this time to start any of those really weird threads you never got to make with old friends and make them now! Just remember to come say hello in the chatbox below or in the discord. Due To A Lack Of Potions Empty Due To A Lack Of Potions

Post by Vivianna Varnes Thu Mar 28, 2013 6:35 pm

Vivianna stumbled out of the fireplace, and landed on her knees on the first floor of St Mungos Hospital. Her right arm was pressed against her chest, and she couldn't bear to look at it, in fear of getting nauseous. Her forearm was broken, and the bone had splintered rather impressively, shards poking out through the skin of her arm. In her right hand, she held a letter, and was rather glad that it hadn't gotten lost in the Floo.

Vivianna wasn't new to injuries, clumsy as she was, and so was quite well acquainted to the staff of the Hogwarts Hospital Wing. However, when she walked in to the infirmary earlier that day, arm cradled close to her, she had only been given a powerful pain potion.

Vivianna had then been told that the medical potion stores were running low, and Nurse Pyrites couldn't get a hold of her usual connection at St Mungos that she used in emergencies such as this one. Before she could make heads or tails of the situation, Vivianna had Flooed to the Wizarding hospital, with a broken arm, and a thick letter clutched in her hand, addressed to Administrative Assistant Atticus Bletchley.

"The girl just flooed in, Atticus. She has a letter for you and everything, she doesn't seem in good condition either."

"Yes, I'm aware she wouldn't be, why'd you leave her alone? you could've just paged me."

"Er.. right. Sorry, it won't happen again."

"Alright. I'll just go see her now."

Atticus had been called to see the girl who had come by Floo not that long ago. She seemed to have a letter for him and her arm wasn't in good condition either. He'd been speaking with the receptionist who'd seen the girl and had gone off to find him. Now he just hoped the girl hadn't passed out or something while no one was there. He turned the corner from the corridor and walked into the reception area and looked at the girl.

Her arm was definitely in bad shape, but nothing he couldn't fix. Though he hadn't been working there for more than a year, Atticus had knowledge of many incidents and how to deal with them already. Being the administrative assistant wasn't just boring paperwork after all. You were a part of the Healer staff as well, just like everyone else in the building, pretty much.

He'd been slightly informed already of what her situation was, and he smiled at her. "Vivianna?" he asked. "I'm Atticus Bletchley, I'll be taking care of you. Come with me." he ignored the letter that she held for the time being, until he got her into a room and checked her arm.

Due To A Lack Of Potions Empty Re: Due To A Lack Of Potions

Vivianna looked up as Atticus Bletchley, the very person whose name was inscribed on the letter in her hand, came up to her. He introduced himself, and began to lead her somewhere, probably to get her arm sorted out. It's not like she could feel the pain or anything, due to the potion she'd taken at Hogwarts, but it wasn't like the Healer knew that.

Glancing up at his face again, Vivianna realized why the name Atticus Bletchley had sounded so familiar; he'd been a former Slytherin! Having been many years below him at school, Vivianna doubted that he'd recognize her, but it did make her relax a little bit. Vivianna always trusted a person she knew to heal her much more than she did strangers, that was why she had never been fond of St Mungos.

When they reached a room and walked in, Vivianna blinked multiple times in an attempt to counter the bright whiteness. Finally giving up, she went to sit on the little hospital bed in the corner of the room. The bed too, was white. In fact, everything there was white. Even the sink in the corner was white, as was the counter and the cabinets. Vivianna wondered idly if it was possible for all this white to make her blind, it sure felt like it.

"Does it have to be so white?" she said aloud without thinking, as a grimace graced her face, and her nose scrunched slightly.

Vivianna Varnes.

The name had sounded familiar to him when he first heard it, but he didn't know from where. Had he heard it somewhere before? Maybe while he was still at Hogwarts. That had to be it, but he couldn't figure out exactly why the name sounded so familiar to him. He figured he'd find out soon enough without even having to ask.

Atticus chuckled softly, "No, I'll fix that." he told her and with a quick wave of his wand, the room changed to a different, darker color that wouldn't be so hard on either of their eyes. Almost a year, and he still wasn't very used to the bright colors of the rooms. "There, that's better right?" he asked, giving her a slight smile before reaching out and taking the letter from her. "This is for me right? I'll read it in a bit.'" he asked, and placed the letter on the small table to the side.

"Right now, we need to get your arm healed." he gently reached out again and grabbed her arm. He flicked his wand over it and the bones quickly moved and retracted back into her skin. He waved it again and muttered another spell, and she was good to go. "There, all set. That didn't take long at all." he smiled at her.

Due To A Lack Of Potions Empty Re: Due To A Lack Of Potions

Vivianna let out a small contented sigh when Atticus changed the room to darker colours. She couldn't believe how much better that was, the girl could have sworn that her vision had started to blur. Or perhaps she was being a tad overdramatic, but Vivianna had felt that she'd earned it.

She just nodded as he enquired about the letter and set it off to the side, she'd get him to read it shortly. Vivianna turned her head sharply when he reached out for her injured arm. Whatever the Healer was about to do to fix her, she did not want to see it. A moment later, Vivianna clenched her jaw when she felt her skin tugging. She couldn't feel any pain, but she still felt the pressure, she clenched her jaw tighter. Hearing the once-Slytherin tell her that he was done, Vivianna glanced down at her arm.

"Huh," she said un-eloquently as she twisted her wrist and examined the now-flawless skin, "you have got to teach me how to do that." Knowing her, it would come in handy sooner or later.

Atticus chuckled softly and shook his head slightly at her. "Maybe you should think about becoming an intern. We can show you many other things that are better than that." he suggested, though he doubted she would take the offer for it. There were a lot of useful things that she could learn, since judging by how badly her arm was injured, he figured she would get hurt again.

Maybe it wasn't the best thing to assume, but Atticus normally had a sort of knack for being able to tell when someone got hurt often. It was a bit strange, but it helped a lot since he worked at St. Mungo's.

He replaced his wand in his robe pocket and turned to the table where he had placed the letter. The eighteen year old reached out and took the letter from the table gently, opening it slowly, "Now... Let's see what this says." he said softly, as he read.

Due To A Lack Of Potions Empty Re: Due To A Lack Of Potions

"I'd love to," Vivianna said with a hint of longing, as soon as Atticus suggested she intern. To be surrounded by all the amazing potions equipment the hospital had to offer, and learning handy healing spells at the same time sounded brilliant. However, the student simply didn't have the time to spare. She already had a job at a wand shop in Diagon Ally, and she loved it. The girl adored that she could wander the Ally before and after work, and she loved learning about wands as well. The student had even considered wandlore as a future profession, if she didn't go into potion inventing.

"I haven't the time though, do you have tiny internships? Like, one day a week or something?" the redhead continued. The teenager was busy enough as is, but truthfully couldn't help herself. She doubted St. Mungos would allow something like that, especially since she was a full-time student, and the internship would make her double-employed as well. But, she had to at least try.

"Letter from the Hogwarts Hospital Wing, there's a potion shortage, that's why I was sent here to get fixed up. There's a list of what's needed in there somewhere too," Vivianna answered, fully aware that the question had been rhetorical.
