First Day

Derry arrived at the Three Broomsticks, happily taking in a whiff of the mixed aromas of hot meals, customers' sweat, and Butterbeer. Today was his first day on the job and he was ecstatic. How often had Derry sat at these tables, delighting in the presence of good friends and even better drinks? How often had he held his sides in laughter as he joked with the colorful characters that frequented this pub? And now, he would have the opportunity to spend even more time here – and get paid for it! There was a God after all!
He went to the back of the bar to fix on his waiter's apron, then proceeded to greet all the familiar faces and fellow employees with his radiant smile and forever-rambling mouth. Then, ready to start, Derry picked up a notepad for writing down orders, jumping from customer to customer, waiting on them with his charismatic and jolly nature.
