Been avidly discussing this whole Halloween celebration, and one of the ideas was to have a Halloween game of Quidditch. Took it upon myself to go ahead and get it set up, with the help and guidance of Jackles, and Matthew, of course....though, if there are any questions, please direct them to me. Jackles is pretty busy helping to organize every other thing 'round here, so I wouldn't want to over-burden her.
Anyways, here goes:
The powers to be decided to approach James Potter, asking for his help in organizing a Quidditch match to help generate interest in the Halloween celebration taking place in Hogsmead this year. While wizards will not be facing against James himself, he will be refereeing the match. This will give wizards a chance to fly with James, and have some fun on a broom.
In the spirit of Halloween, there will be a bit of a twist in this Quidditch game: Instead of a quaffle, the chasers will be playing with a bewitched pumpkin, which could explode at any time. If the pumpkin explodes while in your hands, you get a face full of stinksap, and lose 10 pts. Instead of Snitch, there will be tiny pumpkins bewitched to fly around. Catching one of these pumpkins will earn you 50 pts. Anyone can catch these little pumpkins, so there will be no need for a seeker on the teams. The game will run until the end of the Halloween celebration, and the team with the most points at the end of the game wins. (On a side note: I will control when the pumpkin explodes and where the tiny pumpkins that can earn you 50 points shows up. This is to help prevent any power-plays. I want this game to be fair as possible for everyone, hence the reason James is referee and not actually playing.)
For those who may be confused, this is how points are earned and lost:
Make a goal: +10 pts
Catch a tiny pumpkin: +50 pts
Have the big pumpkin explode on you: -10 pts
Fouls: If a foul is committed, the team who was fouled gets a free shot at the opposing team's goals. Keeper still gets a chance to defend, of course.
If anyone has any suggestions or questions, please feel free to post. These are the two teams you can sign up for.
Oh, also, could use suggestions for the team names. Something Halloween-themed would be great!
