What’s Happening?
Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. Take this time to start any of those really weird threads you never got to make with old friends and make them now! Just remember to come say hello in the chatbox below or in the discord. Keep in mind a few key things:

1. Bring the arena surroundings and maybe a little background into the story. The stage will be the same for everyone and feel free to manipulate it with magic.

2. Try to keep your posts to a MAXIMUM of 8 paragraphs. This is a duel, hurry and get down to work.

3. While in a duel your character will not have the time to cast hundreds of spells. For this reason, you are limited to casting a MAXIMUM of 3 spells per post.

4. Remember: Your characters are not invincible. Be realistic. Even though they will not die in this competition, let them get hurt if you feel your opponent has made a great attack.

5. Also, unless your opponent reveals themselves, you do not know one another. Keep in mind that you cannot hear their thoughts and predict their every move. You will be asked to edit your post should you act upon knowledge your character does not have.

6. Whoever is the second duelist to post MUST play off of what their opponent has established. Note: You do not have to make an attack on your opponent during every post. You can instead defend yourself and stage a greater series of events along the way.

7. Everyone will have a designated time in which to post. Do not keep you opponent waiting any longer than necessary and please try to avoid last minute posting. We want this to be as fair as possible and that will take a little work from all of us. If you are going to be unable to post please send a Private Message to Demetri Gamble so new arrangements can be made.

If you haven't already, please read the RULES to dueling. If you are unfamiliar with how to write a duel read this simple SAMPLE.

The Scene:You and your opponent have entered a small underground arena. There are trees, shrubbery as well as large and small boulders all throughout the area. A pond resides in the center of the arena and fog continuously rolls off its banks. Your peers surround the arena to watch the duel. Demetri walked to the center of the arena. "Let's begin," he said as a light flashed from his wand leaving the duelists to take over the scene.

I'm Not Afraid.

Alex was the kind of boy that when this kind of stuff happened, he'd spend the two hours before listening to music to pump him up for this. Tingling, and raw chilling sensations went down his spine, as ninety-nine percent of his boy was ready for this, but one percent wanted to back down. But this happened a lot to Alex. He had decided to put on a mask, just in case he did something that was against the rules. He had chosen to put on a beanie, to conceal his brown shaggy hair, as he could be recognized without the beanie. He took at giant breath as he walked inside the arena.

It's Amazing, I'm the reason everybody fried up this evening.

Before he stepped into the arena, his shoes making crunching sounds, he checked out the surroundings. Trees, boulders, shrubbles, fog. Alex was in his element, these where the elements he had learned his skills in these elements. How to fight without vision in the fog, how to use everything as a weapon, using boulders for cover, or even as weapons. Or to conceal himself in the trees. The only thing that threw him off his element quite a bit, was that he could no longer use martial arts. This was a magic battle, but Alex still loved his odds either way. His wand still in his pocket, his shoes continued to guide him to the Arena, making a rustle sound in the ground, dragging his feet on the ground.

Bring 'Em Out

Alex remembered his battling, it was quite good. He had managed to send a friend to the hospital by shooting a spell at a dummy, and he didn't even want to hit her. Imagine if he did that to an actual person. Alex popped his knuckles, as he was in Alex mode, 5.0. With the mentality that no one could stop him, he was sure no one could beat him. He was the strongest person in the world, he was so great, that when walking by, Chuck Norris got on his knees and begged Alex not to hurt him. That's what Alex thought would happen if he were to walk by Chuck Norris. The boogeyman checked the closet for Alex, so he won't get killed. Alex chuckled at his thoughts, as he was dead serious.

I will not die, I will survive.

Alex's eyes closed tightly as he reached the Arena, where he was supposed to battle his opponent. Alex would not stop until told, he would use everything he knew. He was very experienced in battle. He was under the impression that 'Michael Jordan + Lionel Messi + Fernando Alonso + Chuck Norris + Casillas= Alex Jones'. Arrogance, Alex didn't see it that way, he saw it as being really confident. Alex touched his forehead, "In the name of the father,", then he touched his chest, "The Son," and then touched his left shoulder, "And the Holy-" then touched his right shoulder, "Ghost. Amen." Alex said, then kissed his finger, then touched the ground. As he had done the Sign of the cross for good luck.

Work it, make it, do it, makes us harder, faster, better, stronger.

The owner of the dueling club had come out, Alex knew it was about to begin, he took out his wand from his pocket, gripping it tightly. Every step the owner had done, made Alex's heart pump. He knew this was inevitable after he signed up for this club. But Alex just gave a grim small. He would win this fight, whether his opponent liked it or not. Alex was confident, not arrogant, he knew this. And he had been hassled for being arrogant, but it wasn't that. The owner had shot a light.

What doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

'Let's Begin.' Alex heard those words, and quickly pointed his wand. Ready to go to war, he decided he was going to let his opponent to go first, from past experience, the opponent was always more vulnerable when he attacked first. He wasn't that sure if it also applied in magic. But he didn't care.

Scott Bagman, son of the great Ludo Bagman, was ready.

Scott already had his wand out was he entered the green arena. His face was emotionless, not that you could see it through the fog. He had left the mask sitting on his bed in his room back in Gryffindor Tower. He wanted to show his opponent who was about to beat him. Of course he would have been much more confident about that statement if he was on a broom. He could barely make out his surroundings through the fog but he had a fairly good idea. It appeared to be a park scene, pond and all. His hair was done up and he was wearing a plaid overshirt with a white undershirt, jeans, and a black pair of shoes. He was definitely ready.

Scott watched as the owner of the organization walked onto the field. Well this was it, this was his shining moment. He suddenly felt violently sick, pre-performance nerves. He was used to them, after all his time he never not got them. As the man shot a light up into the air the fog density lessened slightly and he could see better. He saw his opponent wearing a mask and a beanie, he must be a student as well. He didn't seem to be making any moves and neither was Scott. So they just sort of stood there...waiting. His opponent had his wand out though, so he was more ready than Scott. He groaned when he realized he was going to have to make the first move.

"Really?" he said with a volume just audible in the silence that filled the room.

He began to make a run for one of the boulders on his side of the room. He pointed his wand at his opponent very quickly and muttered "Stupefy".

Things had gone kind of fast that it had caught him just a little bit off guard. Alex held his wand, and he could feel his palm getting sweaty, which happened when you gripped something. Alex had gone from pumped up boy, to disappointed teenager, as the light had gone up, and Alex decided just to lay down, on the ground. Which Alex could imagine, that people would be like, 'What in the hell, is he doing?' Alex really was almost always into the respect the rival, but realizing, when he made out a tiny face in the fog, it was Scott Bagman. Alex just knew him as 'the Gryffindor Captain.' Alex was the Hufflepuff Quidditch captain, and had just realized who his opponent was.

While laying down, and thinking what to do next, a spell whizzed over his body, then Alex realized that he was waiting for his opponent shoot the spell, so he could attack him. Alex pushed his arms, and he threw his legs in the air, as his feet went to the ground, and he stood up. "Alright, my turn... Er..." Alex said, then thinking of what spell to use, he started to think, tapping his wand to the side off his head. "Eh, Rictusempra!" Alex said, shooting the spell, as 60 percent of strength, so if it hit his opponent, it would knock him off his balance.
