Welcome to Potter's Army

We have been a Harry Potter Roleplaying site since 2007. If you're an old member we hope you come check out the discord link provided below. And if you're looking for a new roleplaying site, well, we're a little inactive. But every once and a while nostalgia sets in and a few of our alumni members will revisit the old stomping grounds and post together. Remember to stay safe out there. And please feel free to drop a line whenever!

What’s Happening?
Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. Take this time to start any of those really weird threads you never got to make with old friends and make them now! Just remember to come say hello in the chatbox below or in the discord. Links have been provided in the "Comings and Goings" forum as well as the welcome widget above.

Dueling:
Here is a SIMPLE 2 post dueling sample. Please read and take note of a few key items.

1. Bring the arena surroundings and maybe a little background into the story. The stage will be the same for everyone and feel free to manipulate it with magic.

2. Try to keep your posts to a MAXIMUM of 8 paragraphs. This is a duel, hurry and get down to work.

3. While in a duel your character will not have the time to cast hundreds of spells. For this reason, you are limited to casting a MAXIMUM of 3 spells per post.

4. Remember: Your characters are not invincible. Be realistic. Even though they will not die in this competition, let them get hurt if you feel your opponent has made a great attack.

5. Also, unless your opponent reveals themselves, you do not know one another. Keep in mind that you cannot hear their thoughts and predict their every move. You will be asked to edit your post should you act upon knowledge your character does not have.

6. Whoever is the second duelist to post MUST play off of what their opponent has established. Note: You do not have to make an attack on your opponent during every post. You can instead defend yourself and stage a greater series of events along the way.

7. Everyone will have a designated time in which to post. Do not keep you opponent waiting any longer than necessary and please try to avoid last minute posting. We want this to be as fair as possible and that will take a little work from all of us. If you are going to be unable to post please send a Private Message to Demetri Gamble so new arrangements can be made.

Jason slowly drew his wand from beneath the folds of his robe. As the fog cleared his opponent enters his line of site. He readied himself for any spell that could come his way. All eyes were on them and anticipation blanketed the room in silence. The crowd waited anxiously to see the first spell cast.

His opponent began to pace toward the left. Jason took quick notice of his surrounding before acting too soon. Large boulders and shrubbery littered their arena while a small pond separated the two duelists. Tiny clouds of fog drifted from the banks of the pond making everything lying on the floor almost impossible to distinguish. Jason knew what he was going to do but he wanted to make sure his opponent didn’t act first. Jason began to pace to the right.

When the tension had reached its peak, Jason made his move. “Mobilicorpus!” he yelled casting a bolder in the direction of his opponent. “Expulso!” he soon said causing shards of rock to explode in all directions. At the distraction of his opponent, Jason threw a fire bold in hopes of overwhelming his competition.

Jason took a step back and readied himself for an opposing attack.

Alex felt the damp air surrounding him within the fog. His eyes were focused on the man standing on the other side of thepond who he had been put up against. He could feel the tension growing as he watched his opponent pace to the right.

Without a notice Alex heard the cry of Mobilcoprus and took to the plan in his head. With the flick of his wand he instantly turned himself invisible. The Expulsio was barely audible before he apparated to the opposite side of the lake. A shard of rock slammed into his thigh at an unimaginable speed. The skin was already swollen and welted but he could put some weight on it he found as he stood invisibly crouched behind his opponent.

Alex rolled behind a bush, being as agile as he could, to his left working on his angle for his next attack. Keeping his head down Alex slowed his breathing until it was silent trying to focus on his next attack instead of the pain in his leg.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jason lost site of his opponent after the chaos had settled. His mind raced as the time lengthened and a spell hadn't been sent his way. Sweat began to bead on his forehead as he was certain he was being watched.

With a wave of his wand Jason cast a shielding charm. He felt it was the best way to protect himself should a small spell be sent his way undetected. Time continued to elapse as his opponent still refused to appear. This angered Jason greatly. His temper often got the best of him and this was no exception. A fire storm soon erupted from the tip of his wand in hopes to scorch he coward.

Boulders began to burst, trees became charred and blackened and the pond water began to boil. Fire enveloped that arena yet Jason felt it was sill not enough. Fire continued to pour from the wand.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Alex stayed low to the ground waiting for his chance to strike. The wizard who he was now stalking began to engulf their arena in wild viscous fountains of flames setting fire to everything. He knew by waiting he had found the wizards flaw that gave Alex the upper hand in the fight. No one could focus on sending such a powerful spell as to engulf a stadium in fire while keeping up a shield. Flames surrounded him for a passing moment singeing the hair on his invisible head and arms as the wizard's wand quickly moved past him never stopping on a spot for long. He took the pain of the burns on his exposed skin knowing it was a necessary sacrifice to be able to exploit this one opening.

Alex waited for the wizards wand to be pointed in the opposite direction of him before he stood and pointed his wand at the ground that surrounded the cloaked wizard. The sand and dirt around the wizards began to move and shift unnaturally as it instantly turned to quicksand. All of the sand within a twenty feet diameter of the wizard gave way to his weight.

Alex watched the wizards feet sink into the ground followed by his shins in the blink of an eye as he simultaneously attacked the distracted man for the first time, "Reducto" he screamed. He knew for sure that no wizard would be able to hold any sort of defense while having to deal with their body sinking into the ground which meant that the wizard would have to rely on reflexes. Alex liked his odds.
