Help please???

Dear Listener,
My name is Kayla; I was born and raised in Monroe City, MO. I’ was born at Hannibal Regional Hospital. Two years and two months after I was born my mom and father had a second child, my little brother Brandon, and soon after that they got divorced my mom leaving my father. So I was raised by my mom without a father who cared, or had even ever wanted a daughter, until I was seven and my mom got remarried. Now I am a senior in high school. I work a C&R as a cashier. Thanks to my job and my grandfather I found my first car and paid for it on my own. I am a rather quiet person who tries not to form opinions because I’ve always been judged on them. I do my best not to judge someone before I know them and they have given me a reason to.
This soundtrack I have created tells the story of my life so it is appropriately named ‘The Story of My Life.” I am completing it to tell my story so people can learn a little bit more about me and my life before they judge me for the wrong reasons, like they have in the past. I hope to get more acceptances out of this project instead of being out casted for being a little different or weird. I could possibly use this project as a way to introduce myself in the future because I’m hoping to become a teacher for young mentally challenged students. My goal in creating this cd is to get the message that ‘It’s what is on the inside that matters’ across to other students.

My first song is All American Girl, I choose this song because the beginning describes exactly how my father felt about me and my birth. When my mom told him she was pregnant he told her, “We are having two children, both boys.” And at the beginning of this song the father is praying for a little baby boy. Then it describes the relationship I have always wanted with my father but I never really had. The father in the song really does care for his daughter but mine never really did.

My second song is Family Portrait. I chose this song to portray the event of my parents getting divorced. I was only two years old when my mom left my father taking my brother and I with her, so I don’t really know how I felt about it at the time. I know in most cases when the children are older they don’t want the parent they wouldn’t be living anymore to leave, and this song shows that well. Now I could care less if my father was there or not but, a little girl does tend to need her father. Yet I grew up without that and I’m didn’t have his influence in my life, but it didn’t seem to affect me as much as it did my brother who didn’t have a male figure in his life. So My mom raised me and I visited my ‘dad’ every two weeks, up until my mom got remarried and my father stopped picking me up for his weekends, which his parents took over because they missed up. I believe no child should have to live like this especially from a young age.

‘When Daddy let me Drive’ by: Alan Jackson is the next song I chose to write about. It is meant to portray me getting my driver’s licenses and my first car. My mom had gotten remarried by this time and my step dad is the one who taught me how to drive, and when he wasn’t yelling at me for going too fast or something it was wonderful. The first time I drove we went to a camp site, and drove up and down the little road there.

Clay Walker’s ‘Like we had Never Said Goodbye’ is the song that was playing when my boyfriend Jared, from Jeff City, and I shared our first dance and first true date like moment. It was the first time we were not chaperoned by a parent or teacher (at prom) and it was very special. It was right after we had left prom and he and I went up out to south lake. He stopped by the water and we got out. The moon was shining and reflecting off the water as we danced to this song in the head lights of my car. This was the best moment of that night, and at that point in time nothing could have been more perfect.

My last song has been chosen to portray Graduation which is coming up rather soon. Right now it seems to be so far away but it really will be here before we know it and most of us will be leaving home for the first time. We will be going to go live on our own and it kind of seems scary. That is exactly what this song is about, Carrie Underwood’s song ‘Don’t Forget to Remember Me’. Graduation is a big part of everyone’s life. It’s a rite of passage and it’s one of the scariest yet exciting things I know I will experience, the next will be marriage and kids.
So as I’m leaving high school and Monroe City please don’t forget to remember me, I don’t plan on forgetting any of the good wonderful people I met here throughout my life. The not so good people who have given me nothing but s**t my entire life, I can’t wait to forget them. But for now I’m just putting off goodbye, hoping to make the best of this year, though that’s not going so well right now. I hope it gets better.
