Franki had simply decided on the fact that this boy would not (probably could not) have a sense of humor. It was a decided matter really- as far as she had seen, none of the other pureblood offspring had ever learned to smile, let alone crack a joke every now and then. Therefore, even though his quip about the apple was stated dryly, she still could not help the wry smile that twisted itself onto her expression.
She followed his prompting and reviewed the menu, looking over the expensive items. What she wouldn't give for some fish and chips. He spoke again and Franki's eyes did not even leave her menu as two loud laughs left her mouth- sincere, sweet noises of true happiness which, of course, did not belong at such an occassion. The thought of her mother's mortification knowing she had laughed above a simper kept Franki's eyes diverted.
But as the subject changed, Franki felt a tiny bit of agitated tension working its way into her spirit. Under Daedalus' bored gaze, she felt the intense urge to squirm or throw something or make a ridiculously funny face, but the situation was much too serious for her to divert her attention. However, the waiter saved Daedalus and as she opened her mouth, he took the opportunity to drop the subject entirely.
Disappointment flickered in her eyes as she looked up at the haughty waiter. "Could I get the snapper?" He nodded and turned to Daedalus.
