Welcome to Potter's Army

We have been a Harry Potter Roleplaying site since 2007. If you're an old member we hope you come check out the discord link provided below. And if you're looking for a new roleplaying site, well, we're a little inactive. But every once and a while nostalgia sets in and a few of our alumni members will revisit the old stomping grounds and post together. Remember to stay safe out there. And please feel free to drop a line whenever!

What’s Happening?
Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. Take this time to start any of those really weird threads you never got to make with old friends and make them now! Just remember to come say hello in the chatbox below or in the discord. Links have been provided in the "Comings and Goings" forum as well as the welcome widget above.

Brian had packed welll for them all. He'd procured backpacks and had each one loaded with all the clothing and nonperishable foods, and gear that they would need, including one large wizarding tent to accomodate them all comfortably. He had included, most likely, more than enough for every single one of them. The packs were amazingly small and light, and would look, to a muggle, like supplies for a day's hike, not unlimited time in the amazon.

They all ported in together to a way station at the mouth of a river. Angus had made a connection with a guide, an old friend named Sergio. Sergio was a squib, but he loved his work in the rainforest, and he made a good but simple living at it. He was happy. When he saw them arrive, he greeted Angus and Brian with a strong embrace and a warm smile.

"Buenos Dias, mi amigos!" he said. "It has been a long time!"

"It has indeed," Angus said.

"Who have you brought with you? Dos chicas muy bonita, Si?"

"Si," Angus said. He proceeded to introduce them all to Sergio.

"Welcome," Sergio said. "Shall we get underway? We will need to take a barge down river as far as we can go and then proceed on foot."

Jack and Jim also stood with back packs and dressed similar though Jack wore a bandanna to keep his sweat from his eyes. they all stood looking at Angus who seem to know the man who was to guide them. " so any more idea as to what it is they found?" Jack asked Angus hoping they would have a bit m,or info than a magical artifact that had been found. Jim just stood with Cassidy and checked her back pack finding some straps lose.

Khaat had chosen khaki cargo pants and good sturdy hiking boots and a white shirt. She had a hair tie slid around her wrist in case she wanted it to pull back her hair. Brian had chosen a little darker colored khaki cargo pants, a light tan shirt, and heavy boots. Michael was in light blue pants with a white shirt and good boots, and Angus had chosen a light brown pair of pants and a natural muslin shirt and boots and a hat.

They walked down the pier to the barge that Sergio had arranged and boarded. It was loaded with supplies. There was no under deck space, so the sleeping would either occur at a camp along the river, or would be in shifts on the deck of the barge. Brian helped her unshoulder her pack and set it on the deck. She took a seat on a metal footlocker. The rest of them unshouldered their packs and found seats on crates and chests and boxes. Angus and Brian stepped in to help Sergio cast off.

"Are we all set?" Brian asked. "Anything any of us need before we leave the trading post? We wont' see another for awhile."

Jack , Jim and cassidy stood watching seeing nothing but the guide they followed behind Khaat and Angus to the barge. Jack moved on first then Jim who stopped and helped Cassidy on, his hand holding hers as she stepped over the gap on to the barge. Every one found some place to sit and waited for it to shove off , jack moved to release the bow mooring rope then he sat back down.

" don't think so " Cassidy said and looked at the others who shook here heads " nope we have everything Brian" she said and looked out over the river she saw the hippos and sighed.

Sergio and Angus pilotted the barge down the river. Khaat noticed movements in the water and went over to the edge of the barge to look into the water. Brian swept a quick arm around her waist to draw her away from the edge, just as a crocodile attempted to jump up and grab her.

"Crocodiles," he said softly. "Stay away from the side of the boat. Stay into the center. There are more unfriendly things in that river than friendly ones."

"Well, lets be honest," Michael said. "There are things on land that arent' very friendly here either."

"We're wizards," Angus said. "We can handle this."

"What exactly are we looking for?" Michael asked.

"Some sort of a relic from an old local legend called the Cobra Encantada. According to legend, a beautiful woman shapeshifted into a hideous snake to guard an immense treasure. One who breaks the spell will have the gold and marry the maiden. But thats muggle legend. Wizard lore says there is another layer to that. It says that this is a gold item--not just coins--and that there is also incredible power in the item, not just wealth. And there is some sort of sense that someone is trying, recently, to find it--no matter what the cost."

"I dont' want it," Michael said. "I was with you down to the marrying part."

"You're not finding it either," Khaat told Brian.

"I think I"m safe," Brian laughed.

Cassidy stepped back from the side of the barge and sat down she listened to Brian and chuckled " well that leaves me out too I don't marry women" she said Jack and Jim both nodded too and both looked at Angus.

"You'd better be careful Angus" Jim said and chuckled " don't have to worry about me married three kids" he said and jack nodded too.

"Same here " he said as he moved to sit down" so some sort of golden idle with magic built in " he said opening his map and looking at it tracing the river with his finger. He looked up then back down as if finding the exact location. Cassidy moved to look at it too.

" were are we on this?" she asked and Jim moved to lean over her and pointed to a small dot on it marking the outpost they had just left .

" we just left here " he said and stepped back.

"Robert and I are far more interested in getting this thing so we can find out who is behind it," Brian said. "This is not Gelding's style. I don't know who it is, but we need to find out and we need to do it quickly."

"There are rumors," Sergio said. "There are a few powerful wizards who came from this country years and years before. We thought they were dead. But the peasant people--they say someone is back. They will not speak of it enough for us to know who. But none of them were to be taken lightly when they were alive. If any of them are back, then there is not a man, woman or child with wizarding powers who is not already at risk with their life."

"I know," Brian said quietly. He also knew that meant that their own lives might well be in grave danger by trying to come and intercede.

Jack looked at Sergio and listened he also heard Brian " they haven't met us yet" he said softly and looked to Khaat. Jim poked Jack and chuckled .

"we're not beyond dying Jack, I for one don't plan on it any time soon." He said and glanced at Cassidy who seemed to be off in her own world. "Hay, put him to one side, focus." he said and cassidy nodded returning to looking at the map and where they had to go. " Sergio where was this thing seen last " he said and motioned to an area on the map.

"No one knows if it truly even exists," Sergio shrugged. "It hasn't been seen. If it had, we could find it easier. We have only a few legends to follow.

"Please tell me you didn't buy us a house here," Khaat sighed, looking at Brian.

"No," he said. "This is not my idea of a place to retire to."

"So where do we start, then?"

"There's some native tribal people quite a distance down the river and then inland," Angus said. "They seem to have the most knowledge about the cobra encantada. They believe she did, in fact, exist. They are very good at concealing themselves. We shall have to see if they will find us worthy of showing themselves to us and then talking with us and telling us anything useful."

"It sounds like we could be here awhile," Khaat said.

"Perhaps," Brian said. "Perhaps not."

Jack and Jim sat back down while Jack folded the map and put it back in the bag for future use. Jim sat with cassidy who had now sat quiet Jack watched for crocodiles being close to the barge he pulled his backpack close between his legs so he had something to hold for the moment. Jim took Cassidys hand in his own and she smiled leaning on him for comfort. before looking around at the river passing by.

"Are there any piranha's in the river?" she asked looking at its dark water. Jim chuckled at her question.

" well lets not find out hay" he said and this made Cassidy smile a little and Jim smiled seeing it "Good, that's a start " he held her close and looked at Sergio " if there so concealed how are we supposed to find them or are there signs or trails we can fllow?"
