Just A Warm Up Please

"Protego!" Brian returned to a more traditional style of dueling for the moment. But Brian also could be slightly mischevious, especially during training.

"Aquamenti!" he fired his wand towards Christopher, sending a jet of water his way. He hadn't used a powerful jet of water. He didn't need to knock him off his feet with it. This was, after all, just training.

"You have guts," Brian laughed. "I like it. So far, so good. Do you do much in the gym?"

He knew that if this were his organization, he'd have certainly hired Christopher and would have been putting him into his 'bootcamp program" to get him started a lot quicker. This guy had the drive and the commitment to make a good auror. And Brian wanted to take advantage of that and train him before the wizarding world had a chance to jade him and make him discouraged. But then again, he didn't see Christopher as the type to jade easily anyway.

Of course he knew Brian could defend himself against the attack made by Chris, though he knew it had been a good try, and quite a good tactic, though he is an expert Auror, so , he wouldn't be that easily defeated, and could be seen immediatly firing back a spell at Chris. A jet of water came his way, though he knew he could easily avoid it, as most wizards, since it wasn't a strong jet, so he couldn't be knocked off his feet. He flickered his wand, and turned the water away, landing on the floor, and making a slight pool around Chris. He got his feet a little wet , though it wasn't a problem. It seemed quite traditional duelling, these types of spells that is.

"Thanks."

He laughed a little as well.

"I do some gym once in a while, whenever I have time. Though I prefer jogging. Makes me be faster, and sometimes I play some reaction games so I can always keep my focus when I'm challenged. I consider to have quite good reflexes actually, though nothing compared to some of the best, but still."

Chris, was quite aware the duel hadn't ended, or atleast it didn't seem like it, and until he received the word, he would keep fighting. He flickered his wand, summoning one of the big crates on Knockturn alley, with a simple non-verbal Accio spell. He then threw it at Brian, following it with another spell.

"Petrificus Totalus!"

Ah, finally, he was upping the stakes. Ambitious. Brian liked that. Christopher was using a tactic Robert liked a lot himself. Distraction. It made him laugh as he raised his shield again. It was all he needed to see. For now.

He fired a blasting spell into the crate to destroy it as he felt the petrificus totalus bonce off his shield.

"You," He said, "pass my test. At least as far as the dueling goes. You'll hold your own on the streets, I think. You should partner with another auror at first, at least when you can. But I think you should do very well. Let's go next door. How about I challenge you to a distance run? Let's see how you do at an endurance test. Not how fast you can go, but how long can you last?"

Chris saw yet again his spells bounce of Brian's shield, though he knew he was doing a good work, and beeing tactical and yet agressive was kind of his speciality whenever he duelled. He saw the crate explode again, wood falling on to the wet ground from the previous Aguamenti spell that was on the floor , now banishing a little, but still some water in there. He stud his ground, ready to receive another attack, yet he was surprised. Brian had told him he had passed his test, and the only thing he needed to do now was, well get another Auror to partner with him, and do an endurance test , so he could see how long he could last.Chris nodded his head, ready for the endurance test.

"Fine by me. I don't consider myself a very fast runner, though my endurance is good. Good at somethings, bad at others."

Chris said, as he let out a small laugh, happy with himself after passing the man's test. He stud there, nodding his head at Brian, waiting for him to go the gym for him to follow him closely behind.

Brian started to walk out of the training room and then remembered. He needed to leave the room the way he found it.

"Return!" he commanded. The room returned to normal. Better. Much better. He went over to the gym and pointed to the locker room. "Work out clothes are in there, sorted by size. Help yourself," he told him. He accio'd his own bag from his office. It held his own work out clothes. He took the bag and went and changed into plain black running pants and a white short sleeved running hoodie and running shoes.

He came back out and started stretching and warming up. He wasn't going on any sort of a distance run without warming up and stretching. Running was one of Brian's first loves. Right behind his wife and kids, there was running and swimming and exercising.

"Let's see who holds up longest," Brian said. "The old dog or the young pup."

Chris watched as Brian repeated the magic in the Auror Duelling Room. He was beginning to understand how the room worked, and he could see himself going there alot of times now, specially for some good hard training. He went to the Locker Rooms, and picked his size of workout clothings, and got out, ready to do some stretching and warming up, so he wouldn't get injured or something. He started stretching, when he heard Brian's remarking comment about who could last longer.

He readied himself for the race, remembering himself of everything he needed to win. Control his breathing, keep calm and stuff, he knew he could win this. He had been running ever since the first summer vacancy he had from Hogwarts, so that was 10 years running now. He was ready.

"Whenever you are."

"Track!" Brian commanded the room. It expanded to provide an indoor running track around the outside edge of the gym. "Let's go, then," Brian said. He set in at a comfortable pace. He loved distance running. He was well developed as a runner. The pace came as naturally to him as breathing. "Come on, Junior," Brian teased. "Lets see what you're made of. Loser buys the next round at the Leaky."

He didn't even know if Christopher drank beer. Well, if he didnt there was always butterbeer. Hm..And when had he had an icy cold beer last? He couldnt remember. His current social circle preferred firewhiskey. But every so often he missed just a glass of beer. A simple thing, but he did enjoy it.

And yet again, this room where they would do the endurance test, seemed to react to the commands given by the Aurors that where in there. Chris wondered if he could make the room have enemies as well, or if it could only shape-shift between environments. He was beginning to find these types of rooms very usefully, and he wondered if there some more spread in the Auror Department, so he could make use of all of them, fully, to become the perfect Auror he wanted to become.

After he got all stretched and warmed up to race, he turned to Brian, who transformed the room into a Race track, and claimed that the loser would buy the next round of drinks at the Leaky Cauldron. Chris laughed a little, he wouldn't mind having a little drink outside of work, no problem by him, as long as he had some company for that. Besides, he was even living in the Leaky Cauldron for now, since he had no serious house so, no problem for him. He would be even closer to home that way. He started running, side to side with Brian, finding his own pace as well, ready to last long.

Brian looked over at Chris and laughed. "You look like you have a million questions," he said. "This is one place where I would wonderful about you if you didn't have questions. Ask away. And--in case you're wondering how long we can keep this up? Probably until Robert catches us. If we're still running at lunch time, he's liable to not be too happy with that. Either that or he'll just join us. "

Not all the aurors on staff now had had the experience of training under Robert Lupin, but Robert could be a rather tough taskmaster when it came to training. And Brian ran and swam and trained often with him. It made Brian push himself to try to outdo Robert. The two of them were in constant competition. But Brian had yet to bet him. He could come close, but he still hadn't beaten him.

"Yeah I'm pretty sure I do look like I'm quite confused , and that's because of these rooms we keep coming into. In all of them can we just say a name of a place and it transforms into it? Can we make certain objects be in there? Or enemies for the person to practice? Like a Room Of Requirements for the Aurors, yes, that's the perfect term to describe it."

He was happy to have finally been able to ask that many questions, though the thought of having the Minister of Magic run with him, made him a little nervous. Though he knew he probably could last until lunch time, he wasn't ready to receive a lecture from the big man himself for now. He kept running at a steady pace, so he could keep up with Brian to show him he was a good wizard, and that he was feeling ready to be thrown out on the streets to fight whatever could come across. He felt that motivation run through him, and gave himself an extra boost to keep running.
