True to his nature, a bad mood didn’t always stay a bad mood; a bad mood could always be solved with someone else’s pain. At least there was a part of him that this annoying heck of an illness didn’t take away from him. Kendall was cheered up by that prospect. He had stopped whacking the book against his thigh, feeling the sting from the repetitive impact of the hits. It wasn’t that bad, but it was unnecessary. Now that his mood was fixed, Kendall opened his eyes to regain himself as he recovered from the bout of laughter. The surprise that jolted him was undoubtedly a pleasant one. Having found himself with the presence of Cerelia, Kendall continued to grin.
He had been wondering when he will see her next. Katarina was much closer to Cerelia. Still, his tendency to be a protective big brother to the former extended to the latter. Sort of. With his attention now on the girl, Kendall allowed his mind to trail away from the young ones in the courtyard. A good attention span was never one of his stronger points anyway. Besides, they didn’t matter to him. Keeping his wand, Kendall wet his lips without much thought as he listened to Cerelia.
“Haven’t you noticed how boring this school gets? I can’t wait to graduate. It’s stifling, nothing much happens, and you’ve got annoying young ones with silly games and songs.” He shook his head but continued to grin. “But, there’s always a bright side to things.” He smirked now. “Wouldn’t have survived Hogwarts without people like these. You should’ve seen their faces!” He chuckled. “Priceless. The panic. Awww.” He shook his head again, but with great amusement.
And then, Kendall stopped and slipped into a curious sort of expression as he eyed Cerelia. “How do you like Hogwarts, anyway? I’ve been wanting to check on you. Father did write to me to do so. But, you know, I would have, even without that.” Kendall made a dismissive hissing sound, as if his father had underestimated him. “Still, haven’t see you around much. Odd, really, seeing that I’ve not seen Katy around much either. You know her … doesn’t talk much, but when she sees me, she lets it all out. She needs to. It’d kill her if she doesn’t.” Shifting his gaze from a cheeky inscription on the wall near Cerelia, he turned his attention back to the girl again.
