Remy was feeling significantly outnumbered as several more ‘pop’s brought in new reinforcements from the Order. For all their talk, the Death Eaters certainly weren’t sending a large representation from their members to this little get together. Remy was beginning to wonder if she should have come at all. She had gotten away with missing the Battle of Hogwarts without getting caught, but in this case, that might be pushing her luck. The chaos at Hogwarts had been much greater than what she anticipated here, so she would be less likely to go unnoticed in the crowd.
Jess was frowning in her direction, most likely because he was recognizing her from the few times she had tried to distract him with her femme fatale persona at parties over the past few years. She had never mentioned her Death Eater affiliation, but then again, he had never mentioned he was in charge of the freaking Order of the Phoenix. Not that Remy hadn’t known the man had power – she just didn’t know how much.
But the look he was giving her now meant her chances were low. It didn’t mean she would give up entirely, but just that she would weigh her options next time she saw him out and about.
“Got it,” Remy said in response to Jess’s confirmation that Ne’Os was downstairs with Grindelwald, feeling slightly relieved that she wasn’t the only Death Eater to have bothered showing up. Remy still wasn’t completely certain how Ne’Os was planning to kill Grindelwald, as he had said in their last meeting, but the boy was nothing if not overconfident. Maybe they’d get lucky and Emof would just finish him off and Remy could go home and sleep with Eric.
As more and more people arrived – most of them Order, though Remy spotted tiny Naomi through the crowd – Remy began to get antsy. Her entire job within the Death Eaters was to remain anonymous and gather intelligence. With so many order members getting a good look at her, her job was going to be increasingly hard in the future.
