Worst than torture....

"Everyone deserves a second chance. Even you," Kevin said to Barker, "For the time I've been sitting in here talking to you, I know that everyone deserves a second chance." Kevin ran his fingers through his hair until Barker asked him to spread the word about his innocence. "Of course I would! You're innocent and everyone should know it!" Kevin said. This wasn't much of a detention! he thought.

Kevin guessed he had made a new teacher-friend. He was actually happy he had found out. Kevin wanted to help Barker. A man who had his life ruined by an evil person deserved to get help from someone. "Professor, don't you want to get revenge on Lupin?" Kevin asked Barker.

Felix frowned when he asked if he wanted revenge. He had to stop and think about how to answer that question. "Kevin... I would like to see that man stuck behind bars... he deserves to have happen to him, what he did to me... but... Kevin, I won't go and hurt a man.. I could never hurt someone.." He said shaking his head sadly, though inside he was laughing insanely at the thought. He smiled at Kevin and nodded to him. "I'm sorry I gave you a detention.. I just... wished to speak to you I guess... let you know that I am not the horrid monster everyone says I am.." He ran his fingers through his hair and resisted the urge to snap his fingers.

"Lupin is the kind of man who would try to find me again if he could... He hates me because I got away from him when I escaped Azkaban.. and now that I am at Hogwarts, he seems to hate me more... of course he had to go into hiding when Grindelwald came into power... because he knew.. he knew that with Grindelwald in power... he would no longer be able to hurt innocent people.. did you know that the cells of Azkaban were FULL of innocent people... Werewolves, and Vampires, and muggleborns... it was never publicized, and the people in there... would cry and howl.." Felix closed his eyes, as though trying to block out the memory of all of those innocent people.

"Kevin... it would mean the world to me if you simply forgot about the horrible things that were said about me.. and if you could tell your parents that you spoke to me.. and tell them about Lupin and his family... the man is evil.. and we need him gone, we need Grindelwald in power and we need someone like Lupin locked away forever, I could never wish someone dead... but what he did was horrible.. and there is no question that he would deserve it.."

When Barker said that, he really knew that he was innocent. He didn't want revenge on Lupin. Kevin was surprised to hear that but understood. "And I'm sorry for being so rude to you at the beginning of detention," Kevin said honestly. "It's not like Lupin can do anything about it! His reign of terror is over but no one sees it as that.... And who's gonna listen to me. Not my family! I mean my brother is a total---" Kevin stopped for a second, "My mom doesn't let anyone tell her otherwise of what she thinks. My dad is the jerk who left!" Kevin said. "But my friends will believe me. They'll change their minds about Grindelwald. They'll see that they've been living in darkness under Lupin!"

Felix winced when the boy said no one would listen. "Kevin... if you ever need someone to talk to.. please just find me, I will be glad to listen to your problems.. and help you with them.. I had a father who left me as well.. I thought he was good, he hurt me though... I sure hope no one hurt you.." he said smiling at him. "If your friends don't believe you... tell them to come talk to me.." He said smiling at him. "I'm sure if they heard it from someone who truly believes that I was wronged... or I can ask my Fiancee to come in.. I'm sure she'd be happy to tell everyone that I was framed." He said smiling at Kevin and running his hand through his hair again.

"For now Kevin... I'd like you to write some lines for an hour, that's it.. I can't just let you go because I have to escort you back to your common room after this, and I have work to do as well.. grading and such... so if you could write for an hour.. just write a small journal or something, I don't mind... just turn it into me when you are done, I will grade it and give you extra credit." He said smiling at Kevin and pulling some papers out of his bag, before moving back to a table near Kevin's to work on some grading.
