Welcome to Potter's Army

We have been a Harry Potter Roleplaying site since 2007. If you're an old member we hope you come check out the discord link provided below. And if you're looking for a new roleplaying site, well, we're a little inactive. But every once and a while nostalgia sets in and a few of our alumni members will revisit the old stomping grounds and post together. Remember to stay safe out there. And please feel free to drop a line whenever!

What’s Happening?
Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. Take this time to start any of those really weird threads you never got to make with old friends and make them now! Just remember to come say hello in the chatbox below or in the discord. Links have been provided in the "Comings and Goings" forum as well as the welcome widget above.

With the loaded schedule that David kept for himself, it was very rare for him to find himself with extra time on his hands. In fact, even when he did find that extra time, he tended to put it all into his practice for Dark Arts. Today, however, David was actually giving himself some time off. No Dark Arts practice, just David and a day to spend doing whatever he wanted. Of course, this wasn't actually of his own doing, since that just wasn't something that David could actually do. His brother and sister had been practically begging him for a day for the weekend to be spent having actual fun, not trying to block his spells. David didn't see how this was relevant, since obviously practice was all sorts of fun, but he had eventually caved in...after numerous death threats from the younger Averys.

So, there he was without a sister or brother and forbidden from touching his wand. However, perhaps it wouldn't be all that bad. After all, there were plenty of things that David could do that would be fun. He could go chat up Athena, or he could go meet new girls or...well, any number of things. Though, he honestly couldn't see how he was going to survive a day without practice in dark arts. That just wasn't a good day and certainly not a thing that should ever exist. Somehow, he'd have to deal with it though and so David decided that he needed to get out. If he wasn't near the mansion, than the constant, overriding desire to be out practicing wouldn't take him over any more than it already was. Of course, the best place to get out of the house and have a good time would be Hogsmeade.

David was already dressed in a decent outfit to go out on the town and the only thing that he needed was someone to go with. Well, maybe. He could always just find someone to talk to there, since there was bound to be at least a few lonely people sitting about the village for him to chat up. Settling for this idea instead, David pounded down the stairs to the grounds, circumventing the view of the underground area where he practicd his dark magic and then into Hogsmeade. As eager and full of pent up energy as he was, it didn't take David long to walk over to the small village and begin his hunt for a companion. He wasn't too picky and it could be pretty much anyone that he ran into, as long as they were at least somewhat awesome. Maybe even someone kind of lame would do. Maybe. Nope, he needed someone in his own house.

Padding down the sidewalks of the town, David looked around in vain for someone interesting. His brows furrowed in irritation when he did come across anyone, making him slightly irate with the situation. Maybe he should have waited back at the mansion for someone. After all, it wasn't like he was without admirers. Certainly, there were plenty of those. Despite his irritation, David still had a pretty relaxed feel to him and a charming smile on his face as he walked along. Deciding that he didn't want to waste his time just walking around, David slipped through the door of the Three Broomsticks. Certainly, it was his favorite place to stop in on a nice day to grab a warm butterbeer. Taking a seat up at the front near the bar, David ordered himself a butterbeer and settled in to cool down a bit.

There was something particular about the smell of a wand shop. It was like a bookshop almost - it was that unmistakable smell that could not quite be identified. It was there though; it was present in the air. Athena had been to many a wand shop in her time for various reasons. She had a habit of breaking her wands, cracking them, snapping them and the like. It wasn’t something that she enjoyed admitting to. In fact, she hated having to go to her father and apologize for breaking yet another wand. She hadn’t broken one since her fifth year and she intended on making sure this one - a family heirloom - stayed whole for as long as possible. It was a gorgeous wand, with intricate decorations and symbols of the dark arts pressed into it. It was near-perfect except for a long ugly crack that scarred the wood. It was loathsome and nothing she could do was going to fix it. So, instead of going to her father and admitted yet another folly on her part, Athena had decided to take the wand to a branch of Ollivander’s where she was sure it could be fixed.

Though why she’d chosen to go to Hogsmeade instead of London, Athena did not know. Perhaps it was because she hated the crowds of people almost as much as she loathed people individually. Or perhaps it was because she hated London just as much as she hated every other capital city in the world. It was a hellish place and she much preferred small villages out of the way; villages that gained and retained their character, villages that weren’t threatened by the social and economic advancements and shortfalls of the world. She adored places like Hogsmeade, places where the good flocked and the bad hid within the shadows. Hogsmeade was a village that appealed to every student at Hogwarts - not matter the political sway. Each individual loved the opportunity to get out of the castle and actually spend some time in the ‘real’ wizarding world. Secretly, Athena would have rather liked setting up a home for herself in a small village in Wales after graduation. Unfortunately though that just wasn’t the case.

The Dark Arts was an art that ruled much of Athena’s life. It was an art that curved around the wand she wielded, suffocating it, stifling the ‘light magic’ that stuttered from the pointed tip. She watched the man behind the counter as he inspected her wand, her weapon, with thinly veiled fear. He was intimidated by it; better yet, he was intimidated by her. She continued to observe as he waved his own wand across hers, sealing up the crack with a bizarre strain of magic she had yet to study. He then carefully placed the wand down on the counter; though from the distance she could tell that she was not to pick it up just yet. He turned his back to her and ferried around for a few moments before producing a dark wood handle that looked to be made out of stained bone of some sort. The man hurriedly explained that it was Thestral bone and with a few spells, he attached the handle to the wand, effectively adding to the seal around the crack.

Upon paying him, Athena did not waste any more of her time in the shop. She turned on her heal and strode out, not even bothering to toss a thank-you over her shoulder. He was a Mudblood after all. How she could tell wasn’t apparent but he was - there was no doubt about that. She stepped out into the cool, summer air and immediately crossed the road to the other side of the street where the Three Broomsticks, Honeydukes and many other little shops lay. Athena was actually interested in the Three Broomsticks. She’d been waiting long enough and she’d skipped breakfast so a bite to eat and something to drink certainly wouldn’t have hurt.

She entered swiftly, not waiting for an elderly couple to come out first, but she did hold the door open long enough for them to slip through. She then let the door slam shut before striding over to the bar where she ordered a Rum and Coke. She couldn’t stand Butterbeer - it was disgusting. Athena found herself having to wait again and she gave a heavy sigh, resigning herself to the fact that the idiotic blood-traitor behind the bar was going to take a while.
