Sunny days and Shade trees

Jake woke up feeling very happy that morning. But he didn't know why he was so happy until he walked into the common room and found a note there, addressed to him. The hand writing on the front of the note where his name was seemed familiar. It was Mary's hand writing.

To Jake

When he looked inside the folded note he couldn't help trying to hide the grin that has formed on his face. It was one of the best news he had ever gotten(not to be mean to his friends), Mary and Callin were gone.

Dear Jake,

Sorry for not saying bye to you, but when we had to leave you were still asleep. But Callin and I had to leave and go home for a while. We might be back in about 3 maybe 4 days. I hope you won't miss us too badly.

Mar and Callin

He ran out of the common room and alost screamed with joy when he ran out to the lake. A whole 3 maybe 4 days without Mary and Callin to bother him! He would miss them though. After all they were his best friends. But he wouldn't miss their clingy-ness for those days.

Renny was sitting out by the lake, her yellow floral flip flops next to her while she kept her feet in the water. She had used a simple drying spell to make sure the ground was fine for her dress. She had her dark hair tied out of her eyes with a yellow ribbon, a heart shaped necklace lying heavily upon her chest. She turned her face upwards, closing her eyes and basking in the sun.

She heard someone approaching nearby and she opened an eye, putting one of her hands back onto the bank and turning her head. She could see a figure, but she raised her hand to shield her eyes, which squinted to make out the figure. Her face lit up with recognition and she raised her hand higher, waving at him. "Jake! Hi, Jake! Won't you join me?"

Jake slowed down as he neared the lake and took in the sunlight that beamed down on him. He already felt the calm atmosphere around him with out Mary and Callin there. He smiled as the breeze picked up a little and moved around him. He hadn't felt so calm in years. There was always something that prevented him from enjoying life to it's fullest. Well, two somethings anyways, but today he was free fro them. What more could he ask for?

Suddenly he heard a familiar voice, and for a moment he froze. He thought it was Mary's voice he heard, but he remembered that she wasn't there and he turned to where the voice was coming from. To his relief, it was Renny who was calling him, not anyone else. He liked Renny, she was a nice girl and a good friend. He walked toward her and his smiled widened. "Hi Renny." he said, sitting down next to her. "Sure, I'll join you." he added.

Renny smiled sweetly up at him, squinting because of the sun, which made her expression look rather cheesy, not that she minded. It was sincere, after all, and that was all that mattered. He sat next to her and she adjusted her dress, making sure the end were tucked in under her legs, so as to ensure he did not sit on it. She patted the spot for him and he sat.

She swirled her pale, smooth legs, watching the bubbles that trailed along behind them, the tail-like ripples that traced their path. She reached up and tucked a strand of her dark hair behind her ear, looking at Jake and saying, "So. What brought you outside today? You looked rather jubilant on your trip over here. Good news, I presume?"
