Hitame's smile faded from her face right away. She looked at Mal and opened her mouth to speak. But nothing came out. She closed her mouth and looked down. Death Eaters? How can I, even though my parents were Death Eaters.... she just looked down tears coming to her eyes, from the memories of her parents.

Malowney felt worried when Hitame started crying. "I'm sorry for making you feel bad," she said. "It's just that - my grandparents were Death Eaters. They killed many. They even killed my mum." Now Malowney was crying too. "It was - dreadful. We had to stand and watch the whole thing, Grandma killing Mum, and you know what Grandpa did?" This was painful. "Laughed. He laughed like crazy and videoed it so it's always on his TV when we pass his house and he's watching it with Grandma and laughing and saying things like 'She deserved it' and 'Next up is her daughter'. And I couldn't do anything about it.

Hitame looked at Malowney and wiped her eyes. "My...... my parents were Death Eaters..... " she said. "Well my real parents anyways....." she added quietly. She looked at Malowney crying. "Here... she said taking out a tissue and handing it to Malowney. She looked at the sky and just thought about how her parents killed innocent people, and about how her and Xemnas had fought over that.

Malowney took the tissue and nodded. "I understand. Do you stay with your parents for holidays?" When she heard Hitame say Well, my real parents anyway Mal nodded. "Do you have...foster parents?" Mal hoped it wasn't upsetting Hitame too much.
"You need to discuss your feelings with someone. Come on, you're crying. You should get yourself a tissue," she said. "Let's change the subject to something more cheerful."

Hitame looked at Malowney. "My real and adoptive parents are dead.... My sister and I usually stay with our uncle... she said wiping her eyes. She looked down now and thought of something to change the subject to. She couldn't think of anything, so she just looked down. I'm not sure if i should have told her..... but i think i can really trust her... she thought to herself.

"You can trust me," Mal said. "Your adoptive parents..." She nodded. "I understand, and I w0n't tell. A cheerful subject...oh yeah! What year are you in? My job is being a Healer at St. Mungo's." She smiled carefully, not wanting Hitame to remember the previous conversation. My adoptive parents and real parents are dead. Mal blinked back her tears, and felt sorry for Hitame.

Hitame tried to smile back at Malowney, but it was no good she couldn't smile like she usually did. "I'm a second year... she said. "St. Mungos.... oh that's right.... Do you know Sophia? Sophia Lestrange? she asked her smile starting to widen. She looked at the sky again, the memories of her parents, both real and adoptive, coming into her mind.

"Yes I know Sophia Lestrange." Malowney smiled. "You know her too? Cool. Well, I guess we have quite a lot in common. She grinned, and got some bubble gum and pushed it into her mouth, and chewed. "Only a few weeks ago she turned up in St. Mungo's with Xem, and I was there nursing him before Khaat...um, Khaat Lupin arrived." She blew a bubble and laughed. "I love bubble gum, it's funny." She offered Hitame a stick of bubble gum., "Muggles use this, sometimes."

Hitame looked at Mal, shocked. "Xem?!?! W...What happened to him?!" she asked , worried. She had wondered why she hadn't seen Xemnas very often. Usually she would see him almost everywhere, but for a while now she hadn't seem him out of the common room much. She took the gum from Malowney still deep in her thoughts. She put it in her mouth but didn't chew it much. "He's gonna be okay right?" she asked a little calmer.

"Yes, I'm sure he'll be okay," Malowney said. "Don't worry about him Hitame. I'm looking after him." She hoped Xem would get better. She looked down. "Most people in St. Mungo's recover from their illnesses and injuries." She smiled. "And I'm sure Xem will be one of them!" she announced happily.
