Rebecca dragged her feet up the stairwell in a nonchalant way. Though, having missed breakfast that morning because she was too busy applying her makeup, she was quite cranky. It was the weekend, one of the best excuses for slacking off in your schoolwork, she had no plans, except maybe some shopping with Suz but that was the "Sunday Norm." To be completely honest, Becca was getting a little tired of doing the same things with the same people all the time; Suz didn't like change, but change is what Becca strives for. Suzannah was also one of the girliest, preppiest girls she knew, which, of course, had transformed Rebecca into a complete ice princess. All things fluffy and pink were nice... in small doses- but wherever Suzannah went, she shone with glitter and sparkles. She often made that effect to draw attention to her- mostly the boys. Rebecca was shy, and didn't exactly "milk the moment" when so many men would stare at her, it only made her self-conscious and even more clumsy than she already was. The two couldn't be any more different, but they were the best of friends.
As Becca reached the stairs, after what seemed a lifetime, she noticed that the common room was much quieter than usual. It didn't really bother her, she liked being alone sometimes, it made her mind clear. She walked over to the table by the announcements board and took a seat in one of it's matching wooden chairs. Becca leaned over toward the nearby bookshelf and grabbed a book that she had stashed there at the beginning of the year. She stroked the front cover, it was a medley of all of her favorite stories, including Edgar Allen Poe's "The Cask of Amontillado." As she read it for perhaps the fourteenth time, Rebecca heard a slight movement near the front door. She looked over to see who it was, seeing a thin, pale girl with short, black hair. Curves hugged the girls body, mainly around her chest, which was her only feature that had made her less "pixie-like." The girl reminded Becca of a character in one of her favorite books, Alice from
Twilight, perhaps. The only difference was that the girl wore unnatural makeup and too much black. She seemed like one of those girls who would hate you if you wore anything floral and pink, which made her less likable.
However, Becca decided to flash the girl a smile, "
Hello, quiet day, no?" She said with a slight chuckle.
