A disturbing pattern is only more disturbing when broken. Reports on the heinous crimes of Felix Barker continue to roll in, and more information on his latest victim and his near captures are in your hands. What you read should tell you that we all need to begin to realize the dangers at hand.
After Khaat Lupin was released from Barker's grip, he moved on to Sophia Lestrange, daughter of former Minister of Magic, Matthew Lestrange. Sophia was rescued by an individual sworn to protect the Lupins and was hot on Barker's tail, but Sophia is scarred by the events that transpired.
Sophia, like Ms Lupin, is a very strong woman and will no doubt find success in life. Perhaps this fact, among others, is why these events are so terrible. Miss Lestrange reports having flashbacks of the horrid occasion. She was similarly tortured to the point of muteness, though she has been able to recover her voice, having been rescued sooner than Ms Lupin.
Miss Lestrange warns that Barker is a charmer and has a way with women. He is reported to wear an effective Turkish cologne and use petnames. He also has a large dog he refers to as Hyde with magical powers of infection laced in its saliva.
Unfortunately, Barker is not the mastermind behind the plot. It seems this tale is one of revenge, the revenge of Luther Burke. Barker is merely a pawn, and to some this would be a comfort. As would his “hitlist” seemed to have been completed. But, starling news had reached my ears, which completely skews the entire situation into something much more lethal.
A new girl has been captured. One anonymous witness in Diagon Alley claimed to see the pair disapparate after a struggle down the street. Another anonymous muggle, whose memory has now been modified, saw a man (who I believe to be Brian Quinn, unconfirmed) confront a man reported to look like Barker with a young woman. While the witness hung back, fearful for their own life, they noticed the young girl to be attached to Barker by a thick chain.
From what I have found, this girl is a student of Hogwarts by the name of Naomi, though reports disagree on her name. Some state her surname is Quinn (no relation to Brian Quinn) while others have reported her to be of Greyback kinship. (For more on Fenrir Greyback see page 7) Nevertheless, the disturbing part of this equation is that she has no connection to the other two woman.
Does this mean Barker is now working on his own terms? Does this mean that Barker is going after anyone? This reporter can not report honestly or truthfully yet without conjecturing. But one thing is obvious. It seems no one is safe. The kidnapping war has begun.
Anyone with any information regarding Naomi, Barker, or Burke are encouraged to either contact me or the Ministry.
