What’s Happening?
Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. Take this time to start any of those really weird threads you never got to make with old friends and make them now! Just remember to come say hello in the chatbox below or in the discord. Links have been provided in the "Comings and Goings" forum as well as the welcome widget above.

the origin story Empty the origin story

It was a typical summer day, and Alex found himself once again alone in the vast manor with nothing but the company of two house elves scurrying about. Ever since he had started attending Hogwarts three years ago, his parents had let go of much of the household staff, deeming them unnecessary. With nobody to keep him in check, Alex's idle hands became the devil's workshop. His resentment and anger towards the adults in his life, who had neglected and abandoned him, only grew with each passing day.

On this particular day, Alex's father was away on business, and his mother had flown to Spain with a friend. Left to his own devices, Alex let out a frustrated sigh as he wandered aimlessly around the house. But then, like a lightbulb going off in his head, he smirked deviously and made his way to his mother's closet.

Without bothering to hide his intentions from the house elves, Alex rummaged through his mother's clothes, tossing aside anything that didn't fit his needs until he found what he was looking for: a pristine white dress that his mother treasured. It would do the trick perfectly.

Making his way to the backyard, Alex tossed the dress into the mud before gathering firewood to build a pyramid-shaped stack on the ground. He tore a piece off the dress, lit it on fire, and stuffed it into the center of the wood. As the fire blazed and danced, casting eerie shadows across his face, Alex callously tossed the rest of the dress onto the flames before turning his back and heading inside, leaving the unattended blaze to its own devices.

After wreaking havoc in his father's study, Alex lounged in the leather chair with his feet up on the desk, absently tapping the letter opener against the wooden surface. Suddenly, a blood-curdling scream shattered the peace of the manor, sending shivers down Alex's spine. He recognized the voice immediately: his mother had returned from her trip to Spain. The house elves must have told her about his recent misdeeds.

Feeling annoyed at being caught, Alex let out a heavy sigh and rolled his eyes. He reluctantly pulled his feet off the desk and made his way out of the office, following the sound of his mother's angry voice down the hall and into the kitchen.

"Hello, Mother. Welcome back," he greeted her, his displeasure with her absence evident in his tone. "Did you have a nice trip?"

"Nice trip?" his mother's voice rose to a shrill scream. Her blonde hair practically stood on end as she glared at her son. "I leave for a few days and come back to a destroyed closet and a fire in my back garden! What on earth were you thinking, Alexander Dean Greengrass?"

Alex suppressed a smirk at his mother's overreaction. If she truly cared about his actions while she was away, wouldn't she stop leaving him alone in the house? "Sure, Mother. Sure, you did," he brushed her off before turning on his heel and walking away with a nonchalant shrug of his shoulders. He knew he was in for a lecture, but he didn't care. It wasn't like anyone was there for him when he needed them.

As Alex lay on his bed, the sound of the quaffle hitting the ceiling and returning to his hands filled the room. Thud. Thud. Thud. The monotonous rhythm was almost soothing, drowning out his thoughts and allowing him to focus on the simple task at hand.

But no matter how hard he tried, the anger and resentment he felt towards his parents lingered in the back of his mind. They were supposed to be his family, his support system, but instead, they treated him like a burden to be shipped off to Hogwarts or left alone in the house with no one but the house elves for company.

Alex couldn't help but wonder what it would be like to have a normal family, one where the parents were present and caring, where he wasn't left to his own devices to cause chaos and destruction. But such thoughts were pointless, he reminded himself. This was his reality, and he would have to learn to cope with it.

With a sigh, he tossed the quaffle aside and sat up, running a hand through his hair. He knew that his parents' behavior was not going to change anytime soon, and he would have to find his own ways to deal with the pain and frustration that came with it.

Sequestered in his room, Alex had opted to indulge in the sugary delights he had hoarded from Honeydukes during the previous school year, rather than join his family for dinner. He had been waiting for his father's arrival, anticipating the inevitable confrontation that would follow his earlier act of destruction in the office. However, the expected summons had yet to come.

Alex let out a sigh and approached the window, gazing down at the charred remains of his earlier misadventure. As he did so, the front door below him slammed shut, and he heard the telltale sound of his mother's heels clicking against the pavement as she departed once again, leaving him alone yet again. Frustrated and angry, Alex seized the nearest object, a lamp, and hurled it out the window. The glass shattered upon impact, and ceramic fragments littered the burnt grass below.

He couldn't understand why his parents seemed so indifferent to his actions and emotions. It was as though they didn't care at all about him, his life, or what he was going through. With that realization, Alex's frustration boiled over, and he began to throw more objects around the room, smashing his own belongings this time, in a futile attempt to vent his anger.

Alex trudged down the stairs, his mood darkening as he passed the mess he had made in the kitchen. The sight of food strewn about and spilled everywhere only fueled his frustration. He searched the fridge, tossing items carelessly aside, but nothing caught his interest. Letting out an exasperated sigh, he slammed the fridge door shut and kicked a broken container of yogurt across the floor.

As he turned to leave, his father entered the house, his expression dark and his voice heavy with anger. "Alexander," he said, his tone low and dangerous. "Is there anything you'd like to explain to me?"

Alex rolled his eyes, already tired of the confrontation. "Explain what, Father?" he asked innocently, feigning ignorance.

"Don't play dumb with me, boy!" his father barked. "You set a fire in the backyard and burned your mother's dress. What else did you do today?"

Alex shrugged nonchalantly. "Took a nap," he lied, before turning on his heel and walking away. He didn't care about his father's lecture; he had already vented his frustrations in his own destructive way.

More angry yells could be heard coming from his father's office once the man found the mess that had been created in there. Alex smirked as he climbed into the shower.
