Alexi entered the Valentine's dance, sliding past people who were grinding and whatever else they did at dances. He made it through to the punch bowls and just stood there, since it was a place that almost everyone went to. It should be an obvious enough place for two people to meet, or rather, it was hopefully an obvious enough place. Prior to the dance, Alexi had vaguely asked someone to the dance, though he didn't specify. He just left it anonymous, and since he knew that the person had no date anyways, it wouldn't be any harm to reject Alexi if need be. She probably would have come to the dance regardless.
And there he stood, just watching the crowd for the girl. Alexi realized that the girl may be harder to find than normal, and that he would most likely be found by her since some people were wearing masks. Who knows? She might not even take 'knight in white' as a hint since there were certainly other males in the room wearing white. The only thing that Alexi could hope was that, one, the girl wasn't wearing a mask, and two, every male in white, other than Alexi, was blatantly taken by another girl, hopefully, not the one Alexi went through so much trouble to reach.
Time started ticking in Alexi's mind as the dance started to progress very slowly and slower time progressed, the fast Alexi's hopes dropped. In Alexi's mind, there was that slight - actually 'slight' sounds cocky - possibility that the girl already identified Alexi as anonymous and decided to take off. It would be the worst case scenario since Alexi would leave the dance constantly thinking about whether they just didn't find each other, or if the girl silently rejected Alexi.
