CHARACTER HISTORY
------------------------------------------------------------
Early Years: Lana grew up an orphan. Even as a child she loved having fun. Her poor caretakers always had a trouble keeping track of her various antics. Maybe it was because they were so simply complicated and innocent in every manner. Or maybe it was because her pranks always seemed so absurd, so amazing, that the fact that they worked seemed magical in nature. But nobody could hate Lana for too long. She always had a smile upon her face, and she was never alone. Late night pillow fights, warm hot chocolate, and never a dull moment. That was what Lana's life had once been like.
Then she was adopted. She had no idea why she was chosen. All she knew was that she had been adopted by a billionaire who lived in the middle of nowhere. Before then, she never imagined ever leaving the orphanage. It seemed so unlikely that she would ever leave, that by the time she even consider saying "goodbye," she was gone. It was a gut-wrenching feeling to be shorn completely from her roots, carried away by a dark rogue who had but one intention- to ruin her life.
While this wasn't the case at first, Lana acted like it was. She barely ate, wrote daily letters to each and every single one of her friends, nannies, and even the old marmalade cat (Quince). She never knew that her writing had been in vain. Instead, the letters generally found themselves stowed safely away in her "father's" desk. She would never found out about it until he... left.
But as time passed on, her spirit began to ebb away. Her charisma began to dim. Her intelligence beat upon the confines of her cage, her creativity flopped weakly against her "father's" rigorous home schooling. She easily grasped on the only exciting beings in the whole of his secluded estate: SQUIRRELS. But even Squirrels sleep in winter. After she had discovered every nook and cranny of the mansion she lived in, after she had tried all the interesting foods her "father" seemed to conjure up, Lana had grown sick of her life.
Then, she turned 9, and her "father" received a phone call any other. It left the generally tanned man pale. As he hung up, he turned towards Lana and said...
"Alright kid. Now the real work begins."
He then whipped out a wand, pointed straight towards her, and added, "Happy Birthday."
Lana awoke in a strange room with no windows and no doors. In the following days, she would be forced to complete strange and absurd rituals, like drawing various circles, mixing strange ingredients. She would be tortured for each failure. She would be fed for each success. But each day, the man grew more and more desperate. Finally, he gave her a stick, and brought in a kitten.
He then ordered her to kill the kitten.
Lana, who had been merely following orders to be fed, was shaken awake by this command. She initially refused to do it. The man proceeded to point his own wand at her and utter strange words. Inbetween her pain, and her tears, she eventually did kill the kitten. The man who had adopted her finally decided that both she (and he) had had enough. The man apparated Lana into her finely-furnished bedroom, and ordered his maid to take good care of her.
He never returned.
Lana ended up inheriting his fortune.
Guess what she did with it?
She went on a world-wind adventures with her new best friend/mother/maid, Maria, who had come to believe that Lana had completely recovered from her month of isolation. Lana certainly acted that way, and the more she traveled, the more magical the trip became. Almost like a fairy tale.
But her dreams would forever be haunted by the ghost of her "father."
Beauxbatons Years:
The moment she found out that all the magic that she had been forced to do had actually been real- her powers had just not manifested- she immediately returned home to figure what her "father" had truly intended for her to do. Unfortunately, no data was to be found. All she found was the letters she had sent to her old friends.
She used her fortune to obtain a proper education. What she found was a world of adventure, fascination and mysterious ways of having fun. Alcoholic beverages for children, candy to make you talk like animals, and the various strange habits of Wizards and Witches. Beauxbatons was her playground, and she was never going to let it go.
So far, so good.
