After Hogwarts: Jobs and Factions
Welcome to Potter’s Army

Welcome to Potter's Army

We have been a Harry Potter Roleplaying site since 2007. If you're an old member we hope you come check out the discord link provided below. And if you're looking for a new roleplaying site, well, we're a little inactive. But every once and a while nostalgia sets in and a few of our alumni members will revisit the old stomping grounds and post together. Remember to stay safe out there. And please feel free to drop a line whenever!

What’s Happening?
Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. Take this time to start any of those really weird threads you never got to make with old friends and make them now! Just remember to come say hello in the chatbox below or in the discord. Links have been provided in the "Comings and Goings" forum as well as the welcome widget above.

After Graduating from Hogwarts, your character has a variety of things to do. First though, he/she needs a job. This isn't exactly necessary, especially for the wealthy family characters, but is recommended for most people. Wizards need to earn money too.

Therefore, we have created numerous jobs for your character. You can apply for these jobs at the Job Enlistments HERE. Most jobs give you something to do other than roleplay. For example: Professors at Hogwarts make classes, Healers attend to injured people at St.Mungos and Journalists create stories for the Newspaper. Some jobs though, such as herbologist and author are just titles for your character.

Besides jobs, there are also factions. The three main factions at Potters Army are the Ministry, The Order of The Phoenix and the Death Eaters. There is also Potters Army, a group of students who help the Order, and the Imperium Squad, a group of students who help the Death Eaters and in particular, the Headmaster of Hogwarts. These two factions are student-based though and have nothing to do with graduates. To learn more about the factions and their histories, click HERE.

Job Guides

Most likely, these will be PMed to you once you have applied for your job. If not though, all the guides for the jobs are here.

NEWSPAPER EDITOR GUIDE:

The newspaper editor is the one who creates and runs a newspaper forum at the NEWS section on the index. As an editor you will have to hire journalists to give you reports, though you may also create your own from time to time.

Once you become editor, the first thing you should do is PM an admin with the newspaper you want to run. You can choose to take over a canon newspaper, or create your own. You can also create magazines. Heres the list of canon newspaper/magazines dealing with news:

The Daily Prophet (the admins run this newspaper.)
Witch Weekly (A womens magazine dealing with gossip, fashion and recipes.)
The Quibbler (The news tabloid of the english wizarding world. The quibbler prints bizarre and silly stories about famous people, usually involving conspiracy theories.)

If you want to create an original one, use this code and PM an admin.

Code:
[b]Your Name: [/b]
[b]Newspaper name:[/b]
[b]Description:[/b]

Once you've done that, your forum will be created after some time at the news section. This forum is in blog format, and only you can make topics here, for now. People can, however, comment on your blog posts. Its very important to note that once your newspaper is created, a group will also be created which you can moderate via the navigation bar at the top. From here you can add journalists to your team. They will supply you with reports which you can then post on your blog.

COLUMNIST GUIDE:

A columnist writes regularly for the newspaper they work for. Basically, your job is to go around and follow other people's threads and see whats going on, summarize it, then post a topic at the newspaper you work for. Make sure you change your writing style according to the magazine you work for. For example, if you work for something like the Daily Prophet, you'll be writing serious, pro-ministry articles, which don't exaggerate facts too much. Unlike the quibbler, which will print silly stories.

To decide which magazine/newspaper you want to work for, PM the editor. If you want to work for the Daily Prophet, you should PM James Roland. After he adds your character to the group, you will be able to create stories at the Daily Prophet page.

Make the stories interesting! And don't be afraid to bend the facts a bit. Be biased and exaggerate, no newspaper ever completely tells the truth.
