Welcome to Potter's Army

We have been a Harry Potter Roleplaying site since 2007. If you're an old member we hope you come check out the discord link provided below. And if you're looking for a new roleplaying site, well, we're a little inactive. But every once and a while nostalgia sets in and a few of our alumni members will revisit the old stomping grounds and post together. Remember to stay safe out there. And please feel free to drop a line whenever!

What’s Happening?
Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. Take this time to start any of those really weird threads you never got to make with old friends and make them now! Just remember to come say hello in the chatbox below or in the discord. Links have been provided in the "Comings and Goings" forum as well as the welcome widget above.

Caelani took the list from the wolf-girl and without looking at it, folded it into quarters and dropped it into her pocket. She had hoped the errand would keep her occupied a little longer than that, but the girl evidently had more important concerns and had taken off towards the front of the train before Calli needed to think up another chore for her to do.

Meanwhile, her main concern, the traumatised girl in this compartment, had spoken up.

"Yes," she replied easily.

Caelani remembered back to her own sixth year, and her thumb traced the Lond crest in the silver bracelet on her arm. It had been worse than just the brutal detentions where the choice was between beating a classmate bloody or taking the same punishment yourself. It was the frustration of being punished for infringing fabricated rules and never knowing who you could trust.

"I'm also a Death Eater," she added.

She doubted the revelation would be much of a, well, revelation to the girl in any case.

The train begins to slow, and the whistle sounds four times, signalling the end of the journey, considering the whistle fell off 5 pages ago... very magical...
As the train pulls into the station, the fleet of carriages awaits all students, even the firsties

Express - The Hogwarts Express - Page 21 Empty Re: The Hogwarts Express

Post by Amelia Lyons Thu Sep 02, 2010 2:04 pm

Amelia nodded once in response to the woman’s answer to her question, which was thankfully unhindered by superfluous descriptors or further information. She had done what Amelia asked her to do – identified what she was doing on the train – in as few words as possible, and for that Amelia was grateful. It was not a full-felt appreciation for the woman’s succinctness, for Amelia was still in no position to feel much of anything fully, but she did have the awareness to appreciate that the blonde woman had picked up on her less-than-conversational attitude.

Her question answered, Amelia’s eyes wandered back to where the window would have been. Because there was no glass there, Amelia had a perfectly clear view of the landscape surrounding the train, which was beginning to change from toiled fields to the hilly topography that hid Hogwarts from view until one was fully upon it.

The wind which whipped in through the deserted window frame tugged at the corners of Amelia’s blanket and threatened to take it from her, so the lithe Ravenclaw pulled it tighter around herself as if to shield herself from both the wind and the concerned look of the woman sitting next to her. Amelia hated to be looked at with the kind of pity and disquiet that her unexpected companion was showing her because it meant that the strong, independent persona that she worked so hard to adopt and uphold had crumbled in the wake of her previous encounter. It made Amelia want to disappear beneath the blanket and stay there until she could run to the solitude of her dormitory and just sleep all this away.

When the woman spoke again, her words were blunt once more. Amelia was surprised not so much by what the woman said, but with the matter-of-fact tone she had used. This woman was someone she had never met, had no preconceived notions of, and could say very little about. To offer up that kind of information to a complete stranger as the first defining facet of your personality was a rarity; although the Death Eaters were much more open now about their existence and political leanings, it wasn’t often that someone introduced themselves as one.

Amelia nodded to indicate that she had heard the words, not bothering to analyze this information beyond the fact that the woman was out of the social norm in saying it at all. Amelia had never been particularly political as far as Death Eaters versus Order went. She knew both factions existed and she had likely rubbed elbows with both at her parents’ parties – they were more concerned with current social status than how it was achieved – but beyond that, her feelings were rather unimportant. She did not necessarily approve of what the Death Eaters did, mostly because she could not see the logic behind it, but never having experienced a person loss at their hands, Amelia was not filled with the fire of dissent that many felt toward Voldemort’s followers.

“I’m not,” Amelia replied simply, not compelled to add any more because clearly this woman understood the idea of getting to the point. Amelia could think of nothing more to say, as usual, and thus continued to stare out the window as the whistle sounded to signal that they had arrived at their destination, the towers of the castle just visible through the darkness of the night that had come without her noticing. Amelia did not move to get off the train, but rather stayed seated, hoping the cars would empty some before she had to venture out again, no doubt to prying eyes and questions she was in no mood to answer.

Post by Baldric Pierson Thu Sep 02, 2010 2:17 pm

Corpses were about as friendly as anyone else they were just a hell of a lot quieter and smelt awful. But Rob, ever the bad person he was, was amusing himself by seeing how much he could get off of the dead. So far all he had were rings and assorted coinage from their pockets. He’d also found a packet cigarettes on the driver’s person. So, once the dead were stripped of anything valuable, Rob left the car they’d been put in.

As the train began to slow he started to walk down the corridor banging on the compartment doors and yelling for everyone to either quickly change or start getting ready to go. There were a few sobbing first years still but they seemed intact...kind of. There was one boy that had lost his finger but Rob wasn’t even going to go there. The kid could grow a new finger no doubt. But he was a Hufflepuff so naturally he was fussing over it.

Rob put his wand to his throat, muttering Sonorus and decided to get the message across all the way down the train. “Alright you lot! Get the bloody hell off of this train! The carriages are waiting so let’s get it moving. Otherwise we might just leave you here for demon dinner.” Rob smirked and ended the spell.

He looked to his right and saw Elijah in one of the compartments with a redhead and some sort of half-breed. Rob grimaced but stuck his head around the door all the same. “C’mon kid, better get a move on. Jen will be waiting and if you’re any later up there than she expects you to be then it’ll be a good whipping for ya’” Rob smiled and looked sideways at the half-breed. “Forgive me but...what on earth are you?”

Post by Brienne Ravenquist Thu Sep 02, 2010 2:26 pm

Brienne felt a yanking sensation as the train stopped. The ride was over. Now began her seventh and last school year. It was also a critical time for Luna, who was going to go through her first year.

Luna, herself, was a bit frightened. Brienne unlocked her compartment and helped her out.

"You heard the man, get going or we'll be punished".

Brienne turned on a dime, then allowed Luna to follow her. They got off the train, the young firstie was still scared. Brienne hoped that none of the first years on the train would be too scared to go back to Hogwarts. She forgot about all that when she looked into the eyes of her young companion. The luggage that Brienne carried, hers and Luna's, soon felt heavier than usual.

(Screw character speech colors, it messes up my word-counts).

Post by James Wake Thu Sep 02, 2010 10:24 pm

James Wake left his compartment, prim and proper. No fight was to be had, though he could determine that there were quite a few battles. None of them had truly affected him however. He would be quite interested to fight a demon, but he never sought out a fight when he had no purpose behind such a battle. James saw no need for such encounters when they could be avoided. The Demons were trouble, yes, but one needed to learn about their opponents before attempting to fight them.

James tugged at his cloak, straightening it out. From the looks of things, the elders knew of what had occurred. Maybe they had chosen to ignore this event? Unlikely. Rather, they could have been using the train incident as an example of what the demons were capable of. Murmurs coursed through the students that had gathered about, milling and discussing amongst themselves. James felt the slight urge to take command, but he first needed to know what to say. As one of the few students given any power whatsoever, he had to be sure not to abuse such a "privilege."

Then he heard the crass announcement made by the new Herbology professor. While James had never met him, he had heard a thing or two about the school's new professors from his apathetic uncle. He felt an inkling of pity for the frightened children. The poor kids probably had no idea what was happening, or even why. The Demons appear, attack kids in one or two carriages, and dash away. Classic tactics really, something along the lines of guerilla warfare. James had some experience in that field. As he looked across the ocean of screaming bawling children, James knew he would need to take control.

James touched his under utilized wand to his neck, and cast a quiet Sonorus.
"Students will please exit the train, and await further instructions," James announced in his magically altered voice. "It is recommended that you do this in an orderly fashion, as to avoid any further injuries."

Jeez, Einstein. Need to add anything else?

Post by Jaquellene Jack Dyllan Thu Sep 02, 2010 11:13 pm

Jack had not made any progress finding something to do and she had long forgotten to care about her luggage. She knew it would be brought up on its own so she only had to go and retrieve her knapsack, which she quickly did before hearing the news that she should be departing. She turned her head, looking to confirm these words. She heard [i]"Students will please exit the train, and await further instructions. It is recommended that you do this in an orderly fashion, as to avoid any further injuries."

The voice echoed but she turned and noticed a boy standing there, the boy who had walked in on her and Keith tampering with potions. She grinned a twisted smirk at him and said, "Thanks for the tip, chum." Her eyes twinkled slightly with the jest and she walked on, pulling on her knapsack and striding away, knowing he would probably be mad to see her teasing him when she had barely escaped him last time.

She walked down the train, anxious to leave before she ran into Chase or Andrew. She could not face Chase without getting angry, she was sure of it. And if she saw Andrew, an internal conflict over whether or not to tell him would rage inside her, and she really knew it was not her place. So she quickly exited the train, desperate for an escape.

Post by Keith Nicholas Fri Sep 03, 2010 2:44 am

Keith meandered off, looking halfheartedly for a flash of red among the students filing out of the train. He found nothing, but also saw no obvious Weasley corpses, which was a good sign.

Of course, they could've been incinerated, or pushed out of the train, or kidnapped, or teleported to another dimension...but Keith wasn't too keen on stepping into that level of possibility. He tried to turn back to Lucy, but was swept away by a sea of students, pushed past several people he recognized as he was unceremoniously trampled towards a carriage.

Keith hopped into a carriage, shoving a random fourth year back into the crowd of students with a particularly forceful push. "Nuh-uh. My carriage. Get your own."
