Working with magical creatures involves some risks. Good magical practice involves working in such a was to minimise or eliminate such risk:
- The Magical Creatures Paddock is intended for serious work. Rowdy behaviour is not permitted.
- Students must listen to instructions carefully and follow professors' directions
- All accidents and injuries must be reported to the professor in charge so that treatment may be provided if necessary
- Never enter the Care of Magical Creatures Paddock without a professor present
- If there is a danger, you should send up red sparks from your wand. Follow the instructions from your professor and move calmly toward the exit.
- If the creature you are working with turns on you, run away.
- Wear adequate protective clothing, this includes fully enclosed shoes.
- You may not eat, drink or apply make-up in or near the paddock
- If you feel discomfort from your work, such as heat exhaustion or back pain, make your way to the hospital wing.
- Never attempt to handle a magical creature without permission (in some cases, from the creature)
