Light Conversation

Lunch was probably the only subject Elijah actually showed up for. He could feel the disapproving looks the teachers were shooting his way and he’d occasionally look up to flash a grin at some of them. The hall was quiet but the food was there and ready. Most of the students had gone down to watch some five-a-side Quidditch. Eli had decided to get some lunch early and disappear off to the Room of Requirement for the rest of the afternoon. He was sat at the Slytherin table and was probably the only one there. The others had gone down to antagonise the Gryffindor’s. Elijah’s hand was idly moving across one of the pages in his sketchbook as he put some food on his plate. He glanced at the page every once in a while as the lines started to become more human like and once he was somewhat satisfied he picked up an apple, letting his hand do all of the work. He’d missed most of his morning classes and knew that the teachers wanted to kill him for doing so. He was meant to be enforcing rules not breaking them. Elijah bit into the apple and glanced down at the sketch pad before continuing with his sketch. He wondered idly if anyone would join him. He wasn’t exactly a bad Slytherin. He probably had more Gryffindor in him than many did. He was one of the good-guys, not the other way around.

Belle was wondering around aimlessly, there was really nothing for her to be doing right now. She was bored, she didn't feel like reading, or drawing in her sketch pad. However she was a little hungry and made her way into the Great Hall and grabbed an apple. It wasn't much but Belle hadn't been very hungry lately, of course she was too busy anymore.

However she spotted a familiar face sitting by himself. It was Eli, she had met him once before at her wedding and a few times after and had decided she liked Eli very much. He even drew like her, though she had never seen his work.

She walked over to him, her robes undone now that she had gotten used to the new scars so that her shirt showed her lower stomach and side, including the new jagged scar. She wore her school skirt though and her normal knee-high black boots. She sat down next to Eli and pushed a piece of her lose raven hair behind her ear as she smiled brightly.

"Hey Eli, what's up?" She asked.

The apple was devoured fairly quickly and it disappeared from Elijah’s hand with a quick spell. He took a sandwich from one of the platters and bit a bit off before glancing down at his sketch pad. It seemed as if he was drawing Amelia again. He was thinking about asking his mother to get him a filing cabinet specifically for the drawings of Amelia because he knew he’d be able to fill one. His mother would be alright with it. She was a lot more accepting of his artist status now. The only thing she couldn’t quite get over was that he’d skipped out on his fourth year at Durmstrang and spent it in Paris making a name for himself in the art world. That she refused to accept but his father found it rebellious and liked it quite a bit.

He wasn’t thinking normally, as per usual, and was changing the direction his mind was going in. Elijah sighed out a breath of air and put his pencil down long enough to pick up a piece of charcoal. From there he began to add the details; darkening bits here and, with some chalk, lightening other places. He looked up and saw Belle Fey Potter making her way over. He smiled and made a little more room for her despite the fact that it was him alone at the table. “Oh, I’m plotting against Majere. I plan on putting pink dye in his hair gel and change his slippers to bunnies. Dastardly, no?” he grinned and took the drawing out of the sketchpad. He put it in the folder he had with him and picked up his pencil again, letting his hand drift over the new page at a lazy pace. “What’s new with you?”

Belle laughed, "Aye, very dastardly lad. I bet he will have a right fit at that one." Belle could always count on Eli to have something up his sleeve. She shrugged one shoulder prettily as she took a bite of her apple and chewed and swallowed before answering. "Not much really, I keep getting in trouble with Wilson though Andy is about to rattle his neck for having us face boggarts enchanted as our loved ones using real killing curses...so that should be interesting and I joined the Quiditch team. Other then that nothing really new." She replied and took another bite.

Elijah smiled and nodded. He let his hand do all of the work on the page. He wasn’t really paying much attention to the drawing but he figured he was drawing Belle. He had a habit of drawing people he was quite close to at a specific time. Once he’d drawn them the first time then he could do it all from memory – it was pretty handy. “I hope so. He doesn’t strike me as the bunny type.” Eli laughed. He picked up a piece of charcoal and let the colour drift over the page. He glanced at Belle and raised an eyebrow. “Well...Wilson has always enjoyed pushing people to their absolute limit.” Eli said hesitantly. “Although that’s taking it pretty far.” He glanced down at the page in the book and looked back at Belle. “That’s great. Ravenclaw and Gryffindor are playing soon right? I’m not sure who I should root for now.” He laughed.

Belle shrugged again. "Wilson seems to get away with a lot of things Professors shouldn't." She then laughed as he said he didn't know who to go for. "Either or, it makes it interesting that two of my sisters will be playing against me."

Elijah thought for a few moments. Wilson took things way too far sometimes. Like when he made Nachash disappear and left Miseria at the bottom of the lake unconscious. Eli felt a little spark of anger bubble up inside of him but he beat it down. There was no need to be bitter over things in the past. He was still a little put out by that though and planned on getting Wilson back eventually. “He does take things too far. I think Majere favours him though so that opens a lot of doors. Plus he doesn’t fret about possible repercussions.” Elijah smirked. “I’ll probably root for Lily.” He chuckled. “And or sneak into the Gryffindor dressing rooms.”

Belle laughed as he spoke of her younger sister Lily and then wagged a finger at him. "Naughty Eli, never following the rules. I do believe 'twould kill you ta do so."

She saw him drawing away again and tilted her head, "May I see Eli what you are drawing? I have never seen any of your work." She said.

Elijah smirked and let his hand continue to glide over the page. He poked his tongue out at Belle and laughed. “She’s beautiful. She’s like the cookie I can’t have but have every intention of stealing. Don’t tell Andrian. I don’t really want to made into slices of chopped Eli.” He smiled and put his piece of charcoal down. He lifted the sketch pad up off of the table and looked at it. It was more or less finished; he just needed to add a bit more shading to the clothing. But there she was. In essence, Belle. He flipped it around and smiled. “It’s you.” He said.

Belle laughed, "Oh come on, I hear sliced pieces of Eli taste good with ketchup." She teased. "But you treat her right and I am sure you will stay whole." She then looked at the picture and gasped, "Oh Eli, its wonderful. Though I highly doubt I look that good." This of course was said as a joke, Andy told her she was beautiful enough and so she never argued.
