“So...where are we going?” Chris asked, wrinkling his nose as they entered St. Mungo’s. He obviously didn’t like the smell. Rob shrugged and Katrina glared at him; obviously not happy with the response. The girl who had come with Pete walked over to one of the signs stuck to the columns holding up the second floor. She pointed to one of lines and began to move her hands. Jen and Pete’s eyes watched the girl’s hands and Jen marched over to the lifts. Pete hugged the girl and Rob had to, yet again, beat down the jealousy that sparked up. Pete looked at him innocently, unaware of everything and Rob bit his lip. Althea nudged him and he looked down at the girl who smiled slyly at him. He smirked and shook his head before dropping his arm down to sit on her waist.
They moved towards the lifts but stopped upon finding Jen missing. Rob looked over his shoulder and saw Jen standing in front of the doors. The doors opened and Rob’s eyes widened. Althea laughed quietly from beside him and Christophe bounced over to the woman who had walked through the doors. Rob groaned and Althea squeezed his hand, reminding him that it was time to man up. Although he agreed his mother wasn’t someone he actually expected to see. He closed his eyes and heard the sound of footsteps walking across marble flooring. He opened his eyes and only just managed to hold back a scream. “CONGRATULATIONS ROBBIE!” Amika screamed. Rob groaned again and picked up the eleven year old. She wrapped her arms around his neck and her legs around his waist before swivelling around so she was on his back. “Can you name the baby after me?”
“Amika what if it’s a boy?” Rob laughed, deciding to play the little girl’s game. She frowned at him and Rob looked around to see his aunts in front of him.
“Robbie we’re so proud of you!” Helena, Farah and Genevieve chimed together. Rob winced and the women hugged him. “We’re going to be godmother’s right?”
Katrina scoffed. “Like Rob would have you three as the kid’s godmothers. You’re all bloody nuts. I think the freak factor needs to be kept down rather than up.”
“She is right.” Charlotte said, making her way over. She picked up Miami who seemed to be lost and held her close. “I think we need to keep everything moderately sane for as long as possible. Rob take your cousin.”
“But Ma...” Rob took Miami from Charlotte and the little girl giggled before pulling on his hair which had grown out again. “Miami stop, baby. Ma, please. Amika is heavy and-”
“If you mate with more werewolf decedents then you’ll have to get used to having lots of children and Amika isn’t that heavy. Miami stop pulling Robert’s hair.” Charlotte said, stopping the child instantly.
“Ma, I’m going to be working which is why we’ll have godparents just- OW! What the bloody hell was that for!?” Miami laughed and slapped Rob in the same place Charlotte had.
“Stop being a twat. If you can’t be a good father to Amika Jr. then I think David should be a father to her. Merlin knows he’d do a better job.” Charlotte said sternly.
“Actually we have a name for-”
“So... when are we going then?”
Rob glanced at Jen who had Yuki in her arms, Machi on her back and Nami on her shoulders. She smiled at Rob and he looked around to see his cousins, second cousins and goodness knows who else in the foyer of St. Mungo’s. The young intern looked completely put out. Rob smiled apologetically and they all piled into the lifts. Rob found himself in one with the Quintuplets, Chris, David, Pete, the unknown girl, Jen and his mother all in one lift as well as the girls both he and Jen had collected. Chris seemed to be particularly enamoured with Miami who was trying to grab his hair. Rob put Amika down and she glanced up at him.
“What have you named your little girl, then?” she asked, smiling knowingly.
“Abbey.” Rob said, sinking down to her level. “What do you think?”
“What about Amika?” she asked hesitantly. Rob chuckled. “Abbey Amika, then? I’m her... fourth cousin right?”
“I don’t know, Mika and I think it’s better to keep it that way don’t you think?” the girl nodded and Rob smiled.
“You’re good with children.” His mother observed.
“So?” Rob raised an eyebrow and Charlotte laughed.
“You can’t be serious. You are going to be a father, Rob. It does help to have child skills and you have them.”
“Because I can speak to Amika without being demeaning?” Rob snapped. “Mum this really isn’t the time.”
“No this is a perfect time.”
“In a lift full of people?” Rob asked dryly.
“Yes in a lift full of people. Rob I’m sorry I wasn’t the best mother I could have been when you were growing up. You turned out alright though even without my help. You are a bit of a chicken shit though.”
“Mum...wasn’t that meant to be a heartfelt moment?” Jen called from the back of the lift.
“Probably.” Charlotte laughed. She hadn’t laughed in years. Rob kissed her temple and hugged her. She smiled and pushed him away playfully. “Don’t you go all soft. You are the boss of a billion-galleon company. You have to be a hard arse.”
“Yeah but your my mum.” He smirked. “I can be soft around you.”
The lift doors open and every Whitlock that had taken the lifts stepped out into the corridor. A scared looking healer addressed the fairly large crowd and looked at Rob shakily who had Amika on his back. She was sending some pretty evil eyes as well. “I’m sorry but you’re going to have to wait out here.” The healer said shakily. “Mrs. Dent isn’t fit to see this many people. Not even you Mr. Dent would be-”
“You make her fit to see this many people then.” Amika snapped, sounding a lot like Charlotte. Rob looked at her and she winked before looking at the Healer who quickly ran away. “Alrighty... let’s sit down then.
Obviously there weren’t enough seats in the hallway so the Whitlock’s had to take the floor. Rob made sure to help his pregnant cousins into chairs and David even made a makeshift seat by knocking over one of the vending machines over. Rob found himself wedged between Chris and Pierre. Miami was crawling over everyone’s legs and Amika was taking bets on which Healer would crack first. Rob plucked Miami off of the floor and Machi looked at him. “Miami likes you a lot Rob.” She said knowingly.
“Of course she does.” Amika said tartly. “It’s Rob. All women like him no matter who they are. It’s like some sort of gene that makes him irresistible.”
“I’m bored now.” Katrina announced, getting up. “Amika, let’s go and scare the healers.” Amika grinned and followed Katrina down the hall, navigating her way around the legs.
“See,” David laughed. “this is what you’ll be stuck with in a few years. Miami will probably want to live with you.” The little girl in question pulled Rob’s hair, making him howl in pain. “Unlucky.” David said simply.
