Melanie takes great pride in her appearance. She is of medium height, and beautiful. Her lightish blonde hair matches up to her light skin color. She takes great joy in her hair, and she regularly uses spells to make it enhance her appearance. She usually keeps it straight and long. Her eyes are light blue, but have an intense look about them, and she uses this to intimidate or attract people. Melanie is of medium height, but is very thin. She thinks that the more slender you are, the better you look, and therefore tries to keep herself as thin as possible.

Melanie's usually dresses with bright colours, in order to attract attention, you know. She wears unique, usually revealing clothes, which makes her stand out from everyone else. She's the uptown girl, which means she's very rich and wants people to know it. She wears the most expensive clothes.

General Personality:

Being from a very rich wizarding family, Melanie is your typical uptown girl. Think Draco in his girl form kind of, though shes slightly different.

The term, personality and not appearance hardly works with Melanie. She is beautiful, but not a really nice person, especially to other girls. She wants to get everything that she wants, and uses what she has to get it. Her appearance is one of her main strengths, and she knows it. She's also obsessed with it. She spends hours making her own hair, and spends lots of money on new and expensive clothes. She is spoiled and materialistic, after all she's been getting everything she wants since the age of 7. And now she thinks that money can solve all problems. Unfortunately not.

She is also a drama queen, intentionally or not, she makes a big fuss about almost everything. She also likes to gossip about people, talk behind other peoples backs etc. Basically, she's not quite loyal to anyone, or a good friend to anyone either.

She is a master manipulator, and uses her appearance as her main weapon to make people do what she wants. She also uses her confidence, and her speaking skills to do that. Melanie is an excellent speaker, mainly due to her great confidence. She is rarely ever shy to speak to people. This also makes her very popular with most people at the school, though some of the more smarter people stay away. Because although Melanie acts friendly to people, she only keeps people as her friends as long as she can get what she wants from them. If they have nothing to give, then she wouldn't keep them her friends. Because really, she only cares about herself, what she has, what she wants etc.

However, she does care about what people think of her, and lets their opinion change her quite a lot. If someone rejects her, she would spend weeks in a bad mood, as she's very sensitive.

As she cares a lot about fame and importance, Melanie always likes being the exact center of attention. She dresses expensively, brightly, and uniquely in order to make other girls look like shadows. She treats anyone who is more popular or good looking than her with disdain, insulting them and making sarcastic remarks about them.

Despite being all that, Melanie also has another side, she is very romantic. Though she dates a lot of guys, its only to get what she wants from them. She doesn't truly love any of them. But like many other girls her age, she dreams that one day, prince charming will come into her life. She reads little, but when she does, she usually reads love stories.

Though naturally smart, she never reads, and is careless about her studies. As she's already rich, she doesn't see a point of a future career, leading her to be quite unambitious. The only ambition she really has is to one day be popular, to gain worldwide fame.

As for magical potential, she is good without being exceptional. She is cunning without being extremely intelligent.

Overall, she's just your usual spoiled girl, gorgeous but not very friendly, materialistic and romantic, rich and manipulative. Life has yet to teach her some very important lessons, but for now, she'll just remain how she is. After all, she see's no flaws in herself, thinking herself to be the perfect girl.




H I S T O R Y
Family Information: The Rain family owns an estate at northern scotland, near glasgow. Melanie's immediate family lives there. These are her parents, and her two siblings.
Childhood:
Melanie is the second child of Thomas and Angelina Rain. Her brother, Charlie, is 2 years older than her, and has now graduated Hogwarts. She remembers little of her early childhood, but she was told that she was beautiful, something that made her extremely happy. She was also told that she was a curious child, spending more time with her father than her mother. Her first day of school is a fleeting memory, but her mother remembered that she was surprised at how confident Melanie was to attend her first day, unlike most students. Melanie didn't have a problem spending five hours away from her parents, in fact, soon she loved it. She had many friends, though she was also considered quite bossy. Daily, she complained to her parents about other children at school.

As she grew up, she became more and more obsesses with herself, and started to become an attention seeker. Though she was her fathers favorite, she didn't try to be with her mother, after all, what use was it to be in a good relationship with her? She was nice and obedient to her father, and in return he bought her lots of stuff. Her relationship with her brother was strained, Melanie thought he was a nerd, while he thought she was a spoiled brat. Either way, he went to Hogwarts at the age of 11, thankfully.

She herself began to show magical potential at the age of 7. She was able to control it slightly be the age of 9. And soon after she was using it to play pranks on other children, making ministry officials visit their house.

She also had another sister when she was 6. She neglected this sister and still does. Her sister, more beautiful then her, got much of the attention of her mother and father, making Melanie quite jealous.

Though Melanie loved her parents, and especially her father, she was not at all sad to leave the house to go to Hogwarts. Before leaving Hogwarts, as a goodbye present, her father bought her an owl, Gerulus (Latin for Messenger). She adored the owl in the beginning, but began to neglect it later when she bought a beautiful cat in her third year, Zora. Soon though, she stopped paying attention to both of them.

Also, she bought a very "rich and expensive" wand, which didn't really make any difference to magic potential. She brought a firebolt (just to show off, she can hardly fly) and some very expensive robes.

Hogwarts:

(I will just assume she was sorted into Slytherin.)

At the sorting hat ceremony, she was sorted into slytherin for her cunningness and determination, as well as a complete disregard for rules. Melanie immediately set on making friends with her fellow sorted students. Soon though, she ignored them and made friends with more "important" people to make herself more popular. This led her to also make plenty of enemies, though they didn't say much to her, due to the power her family had.

She performed well in the first three years of Hogwarts, easily passing the exams with little studying, and getting good marks too. She also took flying lessons so she could join the quidditch team, to be more popular. By the fourth year, she was one of the most popular girls at school, and had many friends and got into dating too. This effected her marks severely, and she got only 6 OWLs, something not that great for someone so talented. Still, she didn't care much. And her grades didn't improve as she went on. She started to regularly skip classes as well.

Adulthood: (One paragraph - only if your character is graduated.)

Short Roleplay:

Back at the mansion, Melanie was bored. She was in her room, still lying on her bed, though it was almost noon by now. She was sipping a cup of coffee that the maid had brought for her, staring outside of the picture window, from where she could see her pool. Right now, she was just wondering what to do. There wasn't much to do at her house really, because there weren't many people there. The main thing Melanie did after all was socialize with people. Talking, chatting, flirting, gossiping etc. The only people here were her mother, the maids and her little sister, and she wasn't on great terms with any of them.

Yawning, she finally decided to get out of her bed, and as she did she upset the ink bottle which she had been using to write a letter to her boyfriend. Cursing, she quickly called the maids to clean it up, before picking up the letter next to it, which was thankfully not stained with ink. Looking down at it, she felt proud at how well she had written it. Smiling, she went over to the window and handed it to her owl, Gerulus, to send it to him. She scarely paid attention to the owl nowadays, and he was obviously quite angry with her. As she tied the letter to his leg and told him who to deliver it to, the owl turned quickly, hitting her head with his wing, and flew out quickly.

Angry now, she worked hard to control her tears. This always made her more irritated, why was it that she always cried when she was angry? It was a major problem, it made her look far too sensitive. And yet, she didn't know how to stop it, it had annoyed her since she was nine years old and her mother had embarassed her in front of her friends. She had been angry, not sad, so why was she crying? Turning, she took her anger out on the maid, screaming at her for not finishing the cleaning yet, Melanie then turned and kicked her cat, Zora. As she turned, she noticed herself in the mirror, and smiled slightly. Even early in the morning, she looked quite beautiful, and this made her more happy. Mirror Mirror, whos the fairest of them all? she thought. I am!

Feeling slightly better now, and almost forgetting her small scuffle with the stupid owl, Melanie skipped out of her room and downstairs to eat her breakfast.
