Making the Band

Keith stared at the piece of parchment he held in his hand, the piece of parchment he had spent the lat 4 hours working on. It wasn't anything special, though Keith liked to think it had a certain charm about it. It read:



He nodded and put it up against the wall, sticking a muggle thumbtack in, since he was unable to perform a sticking charm. With any luck, he'd have a full band by the end of breakfast. There had to be some kids here with enough talent, dedication, and free time to start a band. And if not, he'd just bewitch the instruments to play themselves.

Alexa was humming silently to herself. She was up in her dorm doing a little homework, listening to some music through her headphones. It was about 2:00 pm, and she was already a little tired. Of schoolwork anyway. She stopped the music, and stacked all of her papers in a neat little pile, walking downstairs for a walk in the castle.

The paintings were talking to one another as Alexa slowly walked by. If she had been listening to them, she would have missed the sign on the wall. It said...

Alexa raised her eyebrows. Hmmmm...Interesting... She started back the other direction, towards the Great Hall to see if Keith was where he said he was. Fortunetaly, she bumped into him in about 5 seconds.

"Hey Keith! I saw your poster up on the wall, and I thought it sounded interesting. Has anybody applied, for, say... the Keyboard?" Alexa said this casually, like she did not care. But inside, her heart was pounding a million miles an hour. Before she turned eleven, she played on her miniature keyboard all of the time.

Christabelle saw her first year house mate put up a sign and curiously walked over to it looking to see what it was.

She sat there and thought for a second, Hmm a band sounds like a fun idea. she thought as she walked over to the ravenclaw table to find Keith. She found him and sat down in the empty seat next to him, "So a band huh?" she asked curiously, "Mind if I sing and do some occasional guitar?" she asked curiously looking at him.

Keith was lifting his pot roast to his mouth when Alexa and Christabelle burst in, both asking for positions in the band.

Well.

That was quick.

Keith glanced at each of them, and then slowly pulled out a large binder from his backpack. Angling it so they couldn't see, he slowly flipped through several large sheets of blank paper, as if looking through notes he had set up earlier. He though it made him look professional.

"Everything seems to be in order," He said, closing he binder. "Alexa, you can have keyboard, and Christy, you get the much sough after vocalist position." In truth nobody had asked for either position yet, but he wasn't going to tell them that.

Izzy sauntered out of the common room and made her way to the main hall. She had overslept slightly and hoped she hadn't missed breakfast. It was all the professor's fault. She hadn't asked for a detention. Or three. But what could she do, she was a student and he was a teacher so she just had to go along. Izzy walked past a sign thumbtacked onto the wall and carried on walking. She was halway down the hallway when she stopped and reversed her steps to read what it said:

Izzy smiled to herself. Well, that's interesting. She waved her wand at the notice, casting a sticking charm on it and removing the thumbtack. She pocketed it instead. Could come in useful one day.
Izzy made her way to the Ravenclaw table and looked around for Keith. She spotted him and went over.
'So, I hear you're making a band. I'm not too bad at bass myself and you could probably do with a bass-player. What d'you say to me joining?' She tapped her foot impatiently as she waited for an answer.

Christabelle knew that the singing position couldn't be that sought after since she had watched him put the sign up. But she smiled and leaned over kissing him lightly on the cheek. "Thanks." she said as she looked around at all the food at their table picking out several pieces of fruit to eat. She really didn't eat much at breakfast but she ate enough and tried to eat as healthy as she could. "Oh hey Izzy!" she said smiling seeing her old friend from Beauxbatons wanting to be in the band as well.
