Normal Lesson 1

Professor Tiquelle was sitting at her desk at the front of the Divination classroom. She was waiting for the younger years to come in for the first Divination lesson of the year. The very first lesson ever, for some of them. She wondered if there were any students with great potential in the year to come. She hoped so.

Izzy sauntered into the classroom. She was the first person there, which was a surprise. She smiled at the professor without meaning to as she walked past her to the back of the room. Izzy didn't like professors as a rule but this one seemed different. Maybe it was because Divination was the only subject she didn't truly hate. Still, she had no intention of trying in this class no matter how nice the professor was. She sat down and got out her wand.

Professor Tiquelle saw her first student enter the classroom. She didn't recognise the girl, so she assumed it was someone just starting Divination. She looked to old to be a first year. "Good morning." she said, greeting the girl. She pushed her book aside and sat up, ready for the lesson. She looked at her watch. She hoped the rest of her students would be there soon, she didn't want to waste much of the lesson.

Izzy grinned at the professor. 'Morning,' she said chirpily. She looked around the classroom and wondered where everyone was. Surely she wasn't the only one taking Divination. In beauxbatons it had been a compulsory subject, but she wasn't sure about here.

"Ok, settle down class."[b] Professor Tiquelle said as the class sat in front of her. [b]"This year we are going to start off with some basic Palmistry. Most of you won't have come across this much before, at least not in great detail." she began the lesson introducing the topic. [b]"So, let's start with the very basic question: What is Palmistry?" she asked the class, hoping someone would answer.

Ben ran up to his Divination lesson. He had overslept and was late. He seemed to be making a habit of being late to lessons, though it wasn't on purpose. He was out of breath when he burst into the classroom. "Sorry...overslept...sorry." he could just get out as he looked at the teacher. He went and sat down next to another Hufflepuff in the room and hoped he hadn't missed too much.

Christopher entered the class and took a seat near the front.

Elv ran to the divination class. "Sorry, professor..." she said and took a seat near Izzy. Elv raised her hand. " Palmistry or chiromancy is the art of characterization and foretelling the future through the study of the palm." she answered. This is interesting. Reading palm. She has been trying that for years but seem didn't work at all.

Studying the palms. Kind of like navel-gazing, but a different part of the body. Ho ho! For once, Selwyn had no idea what Elvaleryn was on about he assumed chiro was latin or greek for hand, though, because some people would take any opportunity to contort language and -mancy was always, always, fortune-telling.

Selwyn did not for one moment believe his destiny was etched into the palms of his hands. For one thing, the palms of each hand had different things on them, and for another, his right hand had a scar on it where he'd cut it as he attempted to prevent his top-heavy toddler's body stumbling over at a picnic. It was possible the lines on his hands told the past, or even the present but doubtful that they predicted the future.

Just as she had begun to talk, all the students started flooding into the classroom with a bunch of fake excuses. She didn't even bother to listen to them all. There were too many of them to punish. Well there weren't, but she didn't want to do a mass detention this early in the term. She would rather use that time for something else.
Miss Weasley managed to answer the question even though she had just arrived. Maybe she had heard it on her way up the ladder, Professor Tiquelle guessed. "That is correct, Miss Weasley. Five points to Gryffindor." Professor Tiquelle replied. [b]"Now I'm assuming you all have brought your textbooks with you which you were asked to buy over the holidays. Skim the first couple of pages, to get a basic idea of Palmistry." she instructed the class. "And if for whatever reason any of you don't have it, make sure you have it for next lesson and share now." she added, incase anyone had forgotten it. It was the first day, so she expected some people to have.
