Okies. I remember why I was doing this. Someone asked about fancy text in sigs. Here it is.
1. Open your graphic-making software of choice.
2. If you can make layers, make a new layer. If you can't, work on a contrasting colour like blue or magenta AND DO NOT USE THAT COLOUR IN YOUR WORK AT ALL. You'll find out why later.
3. make your pretty text.
4. If you're using layers, turn off your background layer so you can just see the checkered transparency behind your text.
5. save as .gif or .png. If your text is sketchy, png is better, but if it's mostly solid, gif might work just as well and it will (usually) be a smaller file size. If you can save for web or devices, do that and compare the previews to make your choice. Remember to turn on transparency. At this point, if you're using Paint, you need to choose your background colour as the colour to make transparent.
6. Now go upload it to the picturesharing site of your choice and link it in your sig.
FIN.
PS. I might add screenshots later. Bear in mind the last time I used MSPaint was in 2000, so it may have been updated since then.
