James is the son of Ginny Potter and his father is dead. His father is Harry Potter, but was killed by Lord Voldemort in the second battle of Hogwarts. His brother are Albus and Nick Potter. His sister is Lily Potter. He isn't very nice to his brother but they get along well nevertheless.
Background:

James was born fatherless, and he went to live with his mum Ginny in Godrics Hollow. Then his brother Albus was born, and that was unlucky for both of them. James was constantly bullying his brother, he basically ignored his sister; he didn't have anything besides mean things to say to her; so he said nothing at all. Until they got to Hogwarts; he became much more friendly towards his family. And now he's in his 6th year.
