Family Information: Journey comes from a large purely muggle family. Her mother, Colina DeLorme, works as a Psychologist at a local school in their hometown. Her father, Servan DeLorme, is employed as a Detective, and is normally called onto the scene of a crime. Mathieu DeLorme, Journey’s youngest and only sibling, is a mere six years old; thus far, he has shown no magical inclination.
Background: Even from infancy it was evident that Journey was a unique child, with unique abilities. With each passing month, she would adopt a new and unusual hobby, whether it was carving sticks or learning to play a magical instrument. The majority of the time she was no prodigy at these tasks, but she never let that stop her from attempting. She wanted to do and try everything. Some found her frantic manner worrisome; including former teachers, but her parents assumed it was merely a more creative childhood development. It was not until her ninth birthday that she exhibited true magical abilities. A classmate (one that she was not particularly fond of) had been bullying her younger brother. Upon witnessing this, Journey’s temper got the best of her. As she headed to angrily confront the boy, he began screeching in a high-pitched tone, and eagerly jumping around in a circle. It was not until Journey got closer that she understood the situation; approximately one dozen frogs had somehow managed to get in this boy’s pants! The children erupt into laughter, but Journey couldn’t help but wonder: was it a mere coincidence that she had been thinking about shoving frogs down his pants moments before this occurrence? Her logical thought process convinced her it was nothing more than a coincidence, but she continued to wonder about the event, especially when similar situations transpired over the next few years.
Subsequent to her eleventh birthday, she received a letter from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Her father was skeptical, but her mother refused to believe the contents of the letter. Magic being real?! The mere idea was absolutely ridiculous. However, with the continued arrival of letters, a few being speaking letters from the Headmaster himself, her mother decided she had completely lost her sense of reality; why not visit this alleged school and prove that it was a hoax! Unfortunately, Platform 9¾ turned out to be far more real than she had expected; upon arrival she fainted, right into a large (and not very pleasant) balding wizard. Her father, thankfully, managed to keep a level head and see that she made it onto the train, before escorting his wife away from the havoc as quickly as possible.
Journey is now on the verge of starting her second year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Her first year was quite successful and enjoyable, but she still has much to learn about the magical world.
Short Roleplay: After thirty minutes of searching, Journey finally located her Charms classroom. “Stupid changing staircases.” She muttered under her breath. Five minutes prior to the classes, she was only a staircase away from the classroom – when the stairs decided to change direction. Being unfamiliar with their new direction, Journey sighed heavily as she tried to re-navigate towards the classroom. Upon climbing the stairs, she had decided to go right; unfortunately this took her down a completely unfamiliar corridor. Needless to say, she was completely lost. With the assistant of a friendly ghost, however, she was finally able to find he classroom.
Journey nervously opened the door, knowing the professor would be angry. “Erm, sorry I’m late. I got lost, and since the classroom was in a different room from last year, and then the staircases changed, and then I went right when I guess I should have gone left and—“ The professor stared blankly, before continuing the lecture. Journey’s face flushed red before she hastily took a seat in the back of the classroom. What a stupendous way to begin the academic year, she thought sarcastically.
